Internet On The TV

CLICK ON IMAGES TO ENLARGE THEM. REPEAT IF REQUIRED.

This morning I made a large print for Pauline. I wasn’t entirely happy with it, and that was my last sheet of the particular paper, so I have ordered some more.

As Becky was on her way to use my equipment to make a print it seemed opportune to scan the last few colour negatives from the North Wales holiday of 1983. These feature:

Matthew 1983 2Matthew 1983 1

Matthew by the farmhouse

Matthew 1983 3

and in the disused slate mine;

Becky, Matthew and Louisa 1983

Becky, Matthew and Louisa by the farmhouse;

Becky and Sam 1983 2

and Becky and Sam in the mine.

Our daughter needed my printer to produce Β a picture of a certain size and quality. We did this together, and I learned a few things along the way.

Later, the three of us enjoyed company, chat, and drinks in the Rose Garden where,

rose Magic Carpet

among other flourishing blooms, Magic Carpet is spreading out;

Urn planted up

the urn framed by the entrance arch has been planted up;

Honeysuckle

and honeysuckle begins to frame the arch itself.

Clematis Rouge Cardinal

During the day, clematis Rouge Cardinal, has opened out on the Brick Path Gothic arch.

Jackie added some paneer to the delicious chicken jalfrezi that she fed us on this evening. This was served with superb egg fried rice, onion bhajis, and vegetable samosas. My choice of dessert was honeycomb ice-cream. Jackie and I drank Hoegaarden, and Becky drank some of the madiran.

Before returning home to Emsworth, our daughter showed us how to access the internet on our smart TV which is cleverer than we are. This is so we can watch a particular film that I will feature when we have seen it.

  1. At first I thought “Magic Carpet” said Magic Garden–which you have–and which you photograph so well. Great family photos, too.

    I hope you enjoyed the movie. We don’t have a smart TV, but we have a Chromecast device, so we can cast movies and shows to the TV. I love it. I’m the tech expert here, so you know it has to be easy. πŸ™‚

  2. The chosen icecream flavour also captured my attention – I have not come across that as yet……….. I duly noted your opening sentence – and the final one made me laugh out loud πŸ™‚

    1. Our trip to Scotland was slowed by 10 miles of roadworks being “up”graded to “smart” motorway status. The smartest (in Derrick vs. his TV terms) thing to have done would be to not have 10 miles of roadworks for the next 18 months, causing hold-ups and the consequent excess fuel-use. The smartest (in appearance terms) bit of road was just beyond the delay, where the white lines looked freshly done, and it didn’t have any bumps and holes in it. Somehow I doubt that’s what “Smart motorway” means to the Highways Agency.

    1. Thank you very much, Jill. Mat thought I was being mischievous to photograph him when he was up there. Well spotted. I had three goes at the last picture until I got the composition right

  3. The photographs of the children at the mine reminded me of a steak I once had in France; it was served on a piece of slate. The beauty of your garden appeared unbearably beautiful to me today, perhaps it is because here, it is finally turning cold. It’s 8am and 9ΒΊC; we call that ‘freezing’ πŸ™‚

    1. Thank you, Mary. That is a strange thing about living on opposite sides of the world and yet being able to communicate as if we were next door. Actually, that temperature is about the same here at that time, although it warms up later

  4. The last photograph is entrancing, well demonstrating your skill at layers of color, Derrick. I like the different way it came out, like a beautiful painting. The photos of the children are very nice and I do see some characteristics in common. πŸ™‚ The honeysuckle is charming and the ice cream sounds heavenly!
