Today, as it rained incessantly, was one for delving into the photographic archives. I returned to the colour negatives of the August 1992 holiday at Towcett, where

After the swim a cheeky chaffinch chirped its way to the crumbs from our refreshments.

Elizabeth came to lunch and dinner today. The latter consisted of roast lamb; roast potatoes, some sweet; crunchy carrots and cauliflower; and runner beans; followed by rice pudding. Elizabeth and I finished the Malbec, and Jackie drank Hoegaarden.

          1. I am reminder of Janet Frame’s comment (Frame “famous” writer): I frequented the cafes of Paris with other hopefuls. We talked forever of writing for prosperity. They’re still there drinking their coffee. I went home, locked the door, and started typing. (She got nominated for the Noble Prize for Literature… (several times…) )

          2. Well, I wouldn’t do it for the money, but you and Cynthia G.R. have got me thinking. I suppose it is all there in the posts, but how to go about collating it? You have, of course set an example with your ‘Bits’.

  1. We too make rice pudding, some cook the rice in milk and later add sugar and other ingredients or it is also cooked in coconut milk and later jaggery is added ?

  2. Start that book Derrick! You will soon find you have problems with too much material rather than too little. I’m looking forwards to it now.

Great Chaffinch photos – full of character. Nice to see kids swimming in something that isn’t a swimming pool.

  3. Those ice cold waters can be felt from across the miles and through the computer screen…brrr..no thanks! 🙂

  4. The cold water reminds me of my Dad insisting my children jump off the wharf close to his lake cottage into semi-freezing water over Memorial Day weekend. He joined them and occasionally I would to the delight of my three kids, Derrick.
Then my Mom would add that her Swedish father rolled in snow. . . ha ha!
That sweet Chaffinch is really cute! 🙂

  5. Brrrr… That looked Cold Derrick… Hope this week has been warm enough for you though..
Sending Love and thoughts your way.. Wishing you a Peaceful Bank Holiday xx Sue
