The Bends

Today Richard concentrated on plumbing in the sink and the dishwasher. First came the cream plastic piping.

Cutting through the concrete wall required the use of the core cutter. Here the plumber holds up the solid tube of breeze block that he has removed.

Next came the gleaming copper pipes. In the largest of this group, Richard points out the stop cock. Visible in these last two images is the temporary sink he has left for us to use during the past week.

This was later removed.

The slender copper tubing had required bending and cutting to shape and size.

In mid-afternoon we left Richard on his own again to drive to Elizabeth’s where Danni and Andy are to cook a curry. If there is anything of moment I will report on it tomorrow.

  1. My work may not be done but I am still happy at the same evening with their service. Now I am waiting for my brother to come home and I’ll ask him when he will be going to Nagpur and I’ll get my earphones exchanged by him.

There may not seems to be anything special in this article but I learned todays big lesson from the ‘City Collection’.

  2. Great watching your man at work, Derrick. My own DIY efforts were nearly always thwarted by not having quite the right tool. If you have the precise tool to do the job, then the job gets done properly – as appears to be the case with your kitchen.

  3. Wow Derrick…this mam is so detailed and does everything to the “tea”. I guess that makes sence since tea is so popular in England. Wish our U.S. contractors were so detailed and tidy! Gary

  4. As mid-afternoon hit, Richard heaved a sigh of relief. “Thank goodness for curry,” he said. Otherwise, I’d get nothing done with all this posing. ( Just joshing you – I am sure he is a great sport like all of your other pros.)

  5. I’ve just worked out why it’s taking so long to finish this damned kitchen.
Derrick keeps getting in the way with his bloody camera and asking silly questions!

  6. Absolutely top notch plumbing craftsman shown there by Richard, not only am I impressed, but my dad would’ve been too, he was officially known as the best plumber in Geelong. You’re a lucky to have such a good man on the job Derrick.

  7. This kitchen work seems to be some craft really. To think that we dismiss most of such work as easy when we don’t see the reality of it. Thanks for shedding some light on the intricacies of this profession.
