Where Was Little Boy Blue?

Today was another very dull one, but at least the heavily overcast clouds only dropped a little rain, and we managed a dry run into the forest.

Ā

Alongside Sowley Lane a rape field, determined to outclass MacDonald’s Golden Arches, curved round a sheep field newly fenced off with planted saplings against the backdrop of the Isle of Wight.

Ā

A troop of cyclists weaved their way around cattle grazing on the verges of the lane, its pools of rainwater reflecting the surrounding trees and bovine browsers.

I know it is the wrong season, and the cows are on the verges, but I did wonder where was Little Boy Blue.

Garden view from kitchen

By the time we sat down to our evening meal, the sun shone across our garden view. We dined on Tesco’s finest fish pie accompanying Jackie’s finestest colourful ratatouille, runner beans, and cauliflower. I drank Casillero del Diablo Reserva Merlot 2017 and the Culinary Queen drank Hoegaarden

  1. Even with a cloudy sky, the fields looks magnificent. Gosh, if I had that view outside my window, my nose would be pressed against the pane all day. Beautiful, Derrick!

  2. I’m glad that as our days are getting shorter yours are getting longer and you can enjoy the view of your garden at ‘tea’ (what Australians called dinner; ‘dinner’ was lunch).

  3. The rape fields are gorgeous. I tried to capture a photo of one when we were in Scotland, but we only saw them from our moving bus.

  4. We see brides and grooms marching through the rape fields here for colourful, prairie wedding photo’s. Love your garden view! WOW! It’s a jungle out there šŸ˜€ Boomdee

    1. Many thanks, Val. I was lucky to get that one in before my big camera’s battery ran out. The cattle were done with my point and shoot on which only half the screen is visible šŸ™‚

  5. Your leading photo, of the yellow rape crop, curved round a sheep field newly fenced off with planted saplings against the backdrop of the Isle of Wight, is a grand picture worth framing my friend

  6. Little Boy Blue was sacked last year in a massive restructuring by Human Resources. His job was given to Little Bo Peep on a zero hours basis.

  7. Lovely images Derrick. I have never been to a rape or mustard field. Would love to capture such yellow fields. And the window view is great.

          1. I hope so, Derrick. I am in the ‘vertical’ of recovering overdues from large corporate defaulters, many of whom have mafiaso attitudes. This year I slipped on my targets, so I missed out on the ‘incentives’.

  8. I am nearly caught up at last! I apologise for not commenting on your posts recently but I have read them all and enjoyed them. I especially loved the family garden project at your mother’s house. Your mother reminds me so much of mine!
This post is full of lovely photos! Little Boy Blue was a great favourite with both my daughters, though we sang it to a different tune.
