Claire and Andrew, who are ‘Handmade from the Heart’ (hmftheart145@gmail.com) visited on time this afternoon in order to deliver a table made to match the four garden chairs built for us two years ago. They also came equipped with the wherewithal to freshen up the original seats by tightening bolts loosened by heavy winds and applying a new coat of paint. Andrew makes the furniture and shares the painting with his wife. This personable and friendly couple produce good, very reasonably priced, garden furniture in which they take pride. They are thoroughly recommended.

This evening we watched the second one day international between England and Australia televised on Channel 5 with platefuls of spicy pepperoni pizza on a bed of fresh, moist, salad on our knees.

  1. Their appearances belie what one would expect hard-hearted people to look like! Or are they using Scrooge-type hearts as basic material?
    Lovely table. I want one.

  2. Making things that people can use must be so gratifying. Your casual dinner sounded gratifying and delicious. I’m heading out for some tacos to bring home for my wife and me to enjoy.

  3. What a gorgeous set and what a lovely couple who so clearly love what they do. The chairs are evocative of the Adirondack Chairs so loved in this part of the world. The colour is perfectly perfect anywhere!

  4. How wonderful to have people actually come and do good work on site. I’m glad they were so helpful, and it is great to have such a lovely handmade garden set.

  5. You’d need plenty of that spicy pepperoni to liven up that ‘sport/game’; or perhaps a plentiful supply of sandpaper.
That’s a delightful looking table, just love the ‘leg/stand’; tell them, if they are ever in my area, to drop in, I’m sure the War Office would order the complete set.

  6. Right. Great garden furniture. I understand your joy, but what did you have to go to such dreadful extremes as to mention the ODIs. At least there is a glimmer of hope. I’m glad the Pizza was edible.

  7. It’s wonderful to see young craftsmen and women with a pride in what they’re doing, and making a go of it with their business. Our society would be so much better if all the nationwide chains just disappeared and we went back to the days of small businesses.
