Lovely Grub

First, a note about yesterday’s absence, brought about by the demise our Wi Fi router.

I produced a number of photographs which are essential to the post which will have to wait until my return home.

Dawn had not yet arrived when we reported at New Hall Hospital reception for my right knee total replacement. Because I was first on, Jackie stayed until I was led to the theatre, then went home, returned this afternoon, and took

this photograph.

After my first replacement last May, I was pretty groggy and couldn’t eat any of the lovely food.

Very early this evening I really relished flavoursome tomato and basil soup with a warm bread roll; perfectly cooked, well filled, ham omelette with roast new potatoes; and fresh salad; finishing with fine fruit salad. I dank water followed by very good coffee.

  1. Proper food in a hospital – what will they think of next.
Take care. All the best. Looking forward to your posts on Tango & the Lindy Hop. 🙂

      1. Well, you know that old line: Doctor will I be able to play the piano after the surgery ?
        Certainly !
Amazing, I was never able to play it before ! 😀

  2. Glad you have an appetite Derrick and seem to be doing well after the operation. My 2md knee replacement, although on same knee (so actually a revision) seemed to go smoother than my 1st one. Wish you a speedy recovery!

  3. So glad you’re doing well! And hospital food like that might make a person feel like checking in for minor surgery! That looks way better than what I’ve had in hospital.

  4. YAY! You’re lookin’ good, Derrick! Glad the surgery is behind you now. Won’t be long and you’ll be up and trekking around and taking more nature photos!
    Your grub looks VERY lovely!
Bestest wishes for a complete recovery!
    HUGS!!! 🙂

  5. You look great for just having had surgery. I hope your recovery goes smoothly and quickly, Derrick. I’ve never seen hospital food that looks that good. What a pleasant surprise!

  6. That picture frightened me at first, I only saw it from my phone! I’m so happy all went well. I’m coming to your hospital. Your food tray looks luscious! Quick healing, my friend! 🙂

  7. Get well soon, and what wonderful food that is. Oop north NHS food is a lot worse than that. There’s only ever two courses and the main course would be about a half of that one.

  8. Three cheers to your bionic knees! That is a gorgeous shot of the knight who treats life as a feast no matter what! Promise you will keep scouring the moors with Jackie a in the first half of the twenty first century.

  9. I’ve been travelling for a few days so am late in wishing you well. I’m very glad you managed to eat this time, and with relish too!

  10. You have my empathy Derrick, i’ve been in that position a few times the last 6 years (Kidney failure/transplant) but you seem to be holding up nicely and that grub does not look to bad at all! 🙂

Hope your knee and your recovery both go well. and you’re back out in the forest with the ponies and donkeys and ducks very soon. 🙂

  11. Ah, here’s the answer to my question! You had a second knee done after the other was done last year. Good for you for going through it a second time. (BTW, that food looks scrumptious! My hospital food did not resemble it when I had my knee done!)
