Transferred To Crutches

This is a view Jackie captured of the garden yesterday afternoon. It looked pretty much the same today.

She drove me to New Hall Hospital this morning for an appointment with Claire, my physiotherapist. Claire does not go in for false reassurance, but she expressed genuine amazement at my post operative progress. Just a fortnight on, although I am still in considerable pain, I have very good flexiblity, especially when compared to last time round, and am apparently walking well (with support).

I transferred to crutches and left the – too small – Zimmer frame with Claire. Jackie was on hand to catch us emerging from the consulting room.

I dozed away much of the afternoon, and this evening we dined on Mr Pink’s Fish and Chips.

  1. Due to the excellent care being provided by your ever attentive spouse – not to mention the supply of tasty meals on hand – surely it is inevitable that you make good progress. Well done Derrick! 🙂

    1. Glad you like the garden view, today there is a hard frost and all is white. but so far an almost record breaking mild winter! I always think that those things that survive to this point will get through the winter but usually February March or even April will see them off. I am SO looking forward to the Spring.

      1. My friends and relatives on the east cost are going through one of those polar vortex weather events. I am glad to be here on the west coast! Our winter in my area seems to be close to what your are experiencing over there.

  2. Bravo on your speedy progress. The scientist in me wonders why this one is so much smoother than the last. Maybe the job was an easier one – less to fix? Anyway – great news. Thank Jackie for the garden picture. Wind chill factors have been around 0 degrees for the past couple of days. I needed a little spring.

    1. My bet is that a long time was taken up calling the urologist in (they couldn’t get the catheter in – but the surgeon did say this one was straight ford. Colder here, now. Thanks very much, Jodie.

  3. So glad you’re up and about and making good progress. I’ve been terribly absent from my blogging in terms of commenting. But I read yours and think of you often, Hugs, Natalie 🙂 <3

  4. Praise be to gods of the modern medicine! Jackie has caught just the perfect shot. I am sure these moments would find mention in A Knight’s Tale.

  5. The garden looks good and you look even better-er than the garden! Keep up the good work, Derrick! 🙂
Glad after working so hard you ended the day with dozing and dining! 🙂
Prayers for the pain to go away and for you to heal and recovery completely.
HUGS!!! for you and Jackie!!! 🙂

  6. Good to know you are making good progress and that you are not overdoing the strong painkillers!

I’m no doctor but i recommend a healthy dose of Laughter to relieve pain temporarily – repeat as often as needed. A little light potting or pruning may be taken if preferred!

You’ll be off the crutches in no time!

You’ll be getting my bill in the mail! 😉
