Happy Times

It was Jessica who posed and photographed this group at Lindum House in May 1990. It is the only one we have of me and my sons all together, with the addition of Louisa. I am hoping it is not too late for Emily’s collection.

I had lost the original source material, but was able to find and scan the prints this morning.

Elizabeth and Frances returned this morning in order to meet Sam, and we continued reminiscing. One of the tales retold was that of ‘Holly’.

Becky, closely followed by Elizabeth returning for the evening, joined us this afternoon. We were able to enjoy a lighter mood, by putting the world to rights and

exchanging photographic childhood memories.

Jackie braved Storm Freya to fetch an excellent meal for us all from Hordle Chinese Take Away.

  1. I thought I’d just have a quick look in before having my tea. Now I’ve seen you in those shorts I’m not sure I feel like eating. šŸ™‚

Apart from that, those are two great family shots. I now wish I’d taken more photographs as our two were growing up.

  2. It’s wonderful to look at old photos with others and compare memories—someone always remembers something we don’t and completes the story.

  3. Heartwarming memories frozen in time and acting as launchpads for trains of recollections. The beauty of the images reminds me of Keats haunting observations.

  4. It’s good to see happy and smiling faces in the home! – Even better when you can share some good Chinese take-away! Hope the appetite and your digestive issues get better soon. šŸ™‚

  5. Derrick, So nice to go back and capture all those happy memories in life with your loving family. Keep going and cherish all those happy moments in life and continue to look forward to the next chapter. You have a lot of happy things to look forward to in the future as your family and you continue to grow and mature. Embrace and take it all in !

  6. The pictures of you and your sons (and Louisa) really made me smile. They’re a great find. They are the essence of good humour and happiness.

  7. Glad you found the pictures of happy times together.
Coincidentally, my sister used to live in a Lindum House in Sutton Coldfield.

  8. It is good to see so many smiles as you look over photos together. I recently was given two photos of my family on the day of my mother’s funeral. One was somber and in the other, even I smiled. I can’t imagine what made me smile that day, but the picture does not lie.

  9. Don’t Hordle Chinese Take Away deliver? Time to find one that does methinks, Fancy sending the wife out in that, even I would stoop to that. I’d let my lot go hungry
