On Station Road

Jackie really enjoys the garden view from the stable door.

Here it was early this morning.

At the moment she is putting the rows of watering cans to repeated use on a daily basis.

After I had taken the above photographs my Chauffeuse drove me along Christchurch Road, where we passed

baled hay being loaded up, on our way to

New Milton Residents’ Association Wildflower Meadow. True to form the bees favoured cornflower blue.

Jackie then drove me round the roundabout and deposited me at the start of Station Road along which I walked to a bench providing a vantage point for people watching until she finished shopping at Tesco and carried me home.

I will let the photographs speak for themselves.

This evening we dined on Jackie’s succulent steak and mushroom pie; boiled potatoes; crunchy carrots and cauliflower; tender green beans; and tasty gravy, with which she drank Hoegaarden and I drank a fine Contenda Shiraz 2017 given to me for my birthday by Helen and Bill.

    1. Ha Ha, and often I fill them 2 or 3 times a day! One day I will count the number of containers I have, but I am a little scared to do that!

  1. We could do with some of that hay here. The ongoing drought has made it a rare and expensive commodity. I’m sorry I haven’t kept up with all your posts lately. I seem to have been very short of time, for some reason. Although I have managed some more writing. Time will tell if it passes the post this time around.

  2. What a brilliant collection of photos.
When I was at Cairns Airport I started taking similar photos until an irate person with a security fellow beside insisted that I delete them from my camera because I hadn’t asked for permission and he thought I was some kind of deviant. I think he was the person with a problem.

    1. Thanks very much, Paol. I always ask when I can. Sometimes, as yesterday, people ask me to take their photo. One woman did object. She accused me of invading her privacy. In reply I said I always deleted photographs if people don’t like it, but that in a public place photography is not an invasion of privacy. She then accused me of invading her dog’s privacy.

    1. Thanks very much, Tootlepedal. The meadow was first planted three summers ago; the second year it wasn’t so good; seeded again in the spring. We have several others as well

  3. Oh that garden is looking magical these days 🙂 And those wildflowers are gorgeous too! I could go for a slice of steak and mushroom pie. Yes… I sure could 🙂

  4. I thought for a moment the watering cans were at a nursery. I guess they are–of a sort. That wildflower meadow is amazingly lovely, and your people shots always have something to catch the eye.

  5. I can see why Jackie likes that view. There’s something about trellises. And the wildflowers are absolutely delightful!

  6. Derrick, Great wildflower photos and I love all you photos as you were people watching while Jackie did her shopping. What a great collection of pics showing the diversity of people.

  7. ‘Tis a beautiful breath-taking view! I can see why Jackie enjoys it! 🙂
Your wildflower photos and how you presented them…OH! they are like a patchwork quilt of beauty and warmth! 🙂
People-watching is always fun! I love that last photo of the two little ladies! So sweet! 🙂
Good thing you don’t have to pay Jackie a salary for all of the jobs she does! She’s amazing, gifted, kindhearted, a hard-worker, etc….an expert at so many things…you couldn’t afford her! Ha! 😉 (Just teasing you, Derrick! 🙂 )
So glad you didn’t eat a Robin and Mushroom pie! 😮
How nice to savor one of your birthday gifts!
HUGS!!! to you and Jackie!!! 🙂

      1. You’re welcome!
I love to tease! Thank you for putting up with me! 😀

Seriously, though, I read one of those articles a few years ago about how much a woman/mom would get paid if she earned a salary for being a driver, shopper, chef, nurse, gardener, personal assistant, laundry-do-er, etc. It was a HIGH salary! 🙂

I know Jackie, like most of us women, we do all of that is love/out of love! 🙂

  8. I adore the poppies and other wildflowers in the verge!

Were you at all tempted by the ‘All Day Breakfast’ across the road from your sniper’s nest?? 😉

  9. It’s amazing how you can weave a tale with your fabulous photos around a trip to Tesco Derrick

  10. Your evening meal has me drooling too! Super street photos, I just love people watching – Or should that be watching people ?

  11. the smell of hay is wonderful, what I wish I could have the odoramat while looking at your images
The bors of the roads, so beautifully bloomed with wildflowers and simply wonderful to admire

  12. I love street photos, this shows the everyday reality of a place. The live scene stopped in an unposed photo is great.
Jackie’s watering can lined up made me smile for a while. Thank you for showing a funny post.
