An Eye On Proceedings

Regular readers may know that our downstairs loo is designated ‘Print Room’ because that is what the walls carry.

She already has a copy of this one from “Christmas at Downton”, beside her computer station. Today, at her request, I printed another to be enjoyed at her convenience. This time I toned the colour saturation down a bit.

The Head Gardener worked hard on clearing and planting phlox in the rock hard Palm Bed. I transported clippings to the compost.

Nugget kept an eye on proceedings, darting to snap up any escaping insect prey

and warning bees off the nearby agapanthuses.

At the end of the day the Head Gardener transmogrified into the Maintenance Department and

framed the new print, after which, as Culinary Queen,

she produced our dinner of pork chops in sage and apple stuffing; creamy mashed potatoes; crunchy carrots and Roman broccoli with which she drank Hoegaarden and I drank more of the Saint-Chinian.

  1. I can see that both you and Nugget admire a woman with many talents.
I was just wondering–are there other robins about, and do they come around, too?

    1. We have seen no others this year, although Nugget was clearly hatched here. Males are most territorial and are known to fight to the death – so we are building him up 🙂

    1. Could not wait to get back into bed last night! I think my battery is finally running down just a bit. I was always very energetic as a younger woman, so glad I am retired. X

  2. I was going to say exactly what Pauline said. What kind of coffee does she drink? So nice to see little Nugget. The bottom left photo of him would make a gorgeous jigsaw puzzle, Derrick. 🙂

  3. Those pork chops look luscious. There’s nothing worse than a dry chop, but together with that stuffing, I’d say Jackie’s are top grade. And there’s nothing like having a congenial companion around while gardening — that Nugget is a dear.

  4. Goodness, what a busy day Jackie has had, I would be exhausted before lunch! And little Nugget is just lovely. Looking at your lovely evening meal reminds me how many hours of passed since teatime… ah well, Horlicks will have to do!

  5. HA! Whatever Jackie is “on”, can I have some?!?!? 😉 😛
Just teasin’…I know she does all of those amazing jobs outa’ of a heart of love and caring!
Glad she and Little Nugget got their hard work done, and you documented it all in photos! 🙂 You do have a good eye for photographing! 🙂
Love your Print Room! Love the print! I’d hang that on my walls! How nice of you to make a copy for Jackie, and all, to enjoy! 🙂 It makes me think of all the hours I’ve enjoyed in reading to the children in my life! 🙂
In one of our bathrooms I have some framed prints by C. F. Payne (an great illustrator and artist). They are very humourous scenarios he’s captured, and everyone who uses that bathroom comments on enjoying his artwork.
HUGS!!! to you and Jackie! 🙂 🙂
    Tweets!!! to Little Nugget! 🙂

      1. You’re welcome! 🙂
You always share so many wonderful and ponder-ful things in your posts and it’s get me thinking…so I have much to say. Sorry if it’s too much! 😮 :-/
        Happy Weekend! 🙂

  6. Compliments to Jackie for all her continued hard work!

Those pork chops do look delicious. If Mr Johnson achieves his stated objective come November will you still be able to procure Roman broccoli, i wonder?? 😉

Thank you so much for posting more of your wonderful photographs of your delightful entomophagic companion! 🙂

  7. My goodness the energy Jackie has is incredible! Plus she drives you around and keeps house. That meal looks outstanding!!

  8. No surprise to read that Jackie was energetic as a young woman. Must have been the Flash. 😉 Wonderful photo. Love the little hand on the big hand. So tender and says so much.

  9. What a precious photograph!
Clever Nugget, he made friends with people who are so different from his own species. Now he enjoys his meals, his open-mindedness pays off 🙂
