Rather More Than I Did

This morning a made some headway in loading inks for the Epson SureColor P600 printer

These are the instructions;

here is the box of the nine inks and the slots for positioning them;

this is the row of inserted inks.

When setting up yesterday I was asked to select my language, namely English. I did. Everything in the lit up information panel is now in another tongue. While the automatic 10 minute process was continuing, it didn’t matter that I couldn’t understand this. When I got to loading the paper I needed to follow instructions I couldn’t read.

I then tried to download the software. This was meant to be done by Wi Fi. This required the identity of my router and its password key. I entered those. I was then told the printer could not be found. There was an option to download with a USB. None was supplied.

Fortunately at this point I had to give up to receive Margery and Paul who visited for coffee. After this pleasant interlude, I enjoyed my lunch and watched the recorded World Cup rugby match between Scotland and Russia.

Jackie, in the meantime, had been happily planting with the usual interference from Nugget.

He eyes up every hole Jackie digs,

and pounces on it,

sometimes using the trowel as a springboard. This procedure usually means that Jackie sits with a plant in her hand for a good ten minutes until her little hindrance has stepped aside.

Now “Where’s Nugget?” (34).

Later this afternoon I had another attempt at downloading the printer software. It is no good. I need help.

After a heavy shower I walked around the garden to cool myself down and cheer myself up.

Raindrops were in evidence,

and the various beds sparkled – rather more than I did.

This evening we dined on Mr Pink’s fish and chips and Garner’s pickled onions with which Jackie drank Hoegaarden and I drank Casilllero del Diablo reserva Malbec 2018.

  1. Now I don’t like to be a show off – but I bought a new laminator which was delivered yesterday. I unboxed it and disposed of the packaging – which incidentally made a pile approximately six times the size of the actual machine – I plugged it in, waited til it beeped (about 60 seconds later) and then sprinkled a fine shower of glitter on an A4 painting and laminated it. I trimmed the page and had four sparkly cosmic backgrounds for the the latest series of cards. The moral is only buy machines that require plugging in to work.

I love Nugget’s confidence that Jackie is digging holes for him to explore. Such trust! <3

  2. I think you might have to start charging Nugget rent…or claim him as a dependent. He is just so sweet! The garden looks gorgeous. Sorry you’re still having printer issues…it’s so frustrating, but I have faith in you. πŸ™‚

  3. I hope to see picture of Nugget eating out of Jackie’s hand before too long. Nine cartridges? I have only got six and now I am suffering from cartridge envy. Mind you, I will be interested to see if Epson make you buy new cartridges before the old ones have run out. That’s why I changed to Canon.

  4. β€œNever do today what can be put off until tomorrow” sprang to mind when reading about your efforts. ? I’m sure you’ll get it going eventually with a few more pleasant interludes, Derry. ?

  5. Replacing those cartridges is going to be expensive! I suspect installations such as those are a breeze in Windows OS. But I am assuming availability of the device driver. Wish you luck.

      1. That particular myth has been busted for me time and again. The actual number of prints will depend on the contrasts and saturations of the photogray you choose. If there is a hiatus in printing, the inkwells tend to dry out without reaching the stated milestone.

  6. Thank God for gardens, little birds, and people who help with tech set up. I don’t know if I could do it on my own. I admire your courage and perseverance.

  7. The garden is looking lovely and as loved seeing Nugget waiting for his hole to be dug. Oh yes, I found him too!

Your Printer – I think I would be tempted to uninstall the software and start again. As for the USB cable, I wonder why they stopped supplying them with printers? Do you have one still attached to your old printer.

My wireless printer refuses to work wirelessly since I installed a new router. I did everything by the book, but no joy. I now have to use the USB cable each time I wish to print. It has been a little inconvenient as the printer is housed away from my computer, this means I send any printing to my laptop and then take the laptop to the printer and plug in via the USB cable. Fortunately, these days I don’t print very often. However, a change of working arrangement is about to change this inconvenience, but that’s another story!

Hope you sort out your inconvenience very soon.

  8. Don’t get too downhearted over a printer, or any piece of computing machinery. In this case, I think you’d be justified in taking the printer back to the shop as faulty.

  9. UGHS on the printer! πŸ™ I get frustrated just reading about it. I cheer you on for giving it a try. I hope the experts will help. (It’d be funny if the experts were 12 years old! πŸ˜‰ )

I think Nugget thinks Jackie is digging holes just for him. πŸ˜€ I think he IS hoping to find some squirmy-worms or buggy-bugs in that dirt! πŸ˜›

The Where’s Nugget photo made me laugh loudly! I love his little head popping out, like “Here I am, People!” πŸ™‚

Your garden looks so very beautiful after a shower and I bet it smelled lovely, too!
I hope you are sparking, again, by now. πŸ™‚
    HUGS!!! for the UGHS!!! πŸ™‚

  10. It’s good to have a garden at times like those – either that or a stiff drink! πŸ˜‰

Nugget may be a hindrance to the Chief Assistant Photographer doing her Gardening work, but he would be a suitable distraction and frustration buster in my book.

And this time Nugget is ‘entering stage left’! πŸ˜‰

Good luck with your external help (Becky??) πŸ™‚

          1. ??

It should have a ‘Menu’ button that has ‘Set-up’ as an option and you should be able to reset the language to Anglais – n’est-ce pas?? πŸ˜‰

  11. Jackie is the best mom a robin ever had. Lovely photos, and I did spot the little guy on the left side of the β€œWhere’s Nugget” photo. Hopefully you’ll get some assistance with the printer. At this point I’d be pulling my hair out in bunches.

  12. The gardens (and little Nugget) look lovely, Derrick and Jackie! Still green and many flowers! Our weather has turned clear and cold again, with this morning coming in below freezing. I picked out the rest of our garden last night.

  13. I feel like your relationship with this little bird may go down in history. What a story this is! I knew it was a “Where’s Nugget?” photo because it took a while to find him – cute!

What a printer! I have 4 cartridges – CMYK (blue, pink, yellow, black). I have had to set up printers for several of my clients, as well as many of my own over the years. It is never an enjoyable process. Calling in help is a wonderful idea. Best of luck!

  14. Good luck on the printer Derrick. I hate all the technology but it is a necessary evil. No more outdoor plants here in Montana as the temperatures dipped to 9F last night and has remained below freezing now for the third day.

  15. Sorry to hear about the printer, I hope there’s a ‘nerd’ nearby who can help. πŸ™‚ … and the lad looks very dapper, as always. πŸ™‚
