Planes Of Boats And Trains

The morning was bright and sunny; the afternoon began with a deluge and ended in photogenic light.

Nugget can regularly be seen from the kitchen window. Jackie photographed him from there, where his own personal feeder hangs.

“Where’s Nugget?” (59)

At the dry end of the afternoon we drove to Lymington Harbour where the Assistant Photographer photographed the general scene;

a view of the monument;

and me making my own efforts.

I only saw one gull – or was it a cormorant?

and very view people on the wet quayside.

A solitary rower brought his boat into harbour past all the moored yachts.

The planes of boats and trains formed geometric artwork with the upright moored masts and surrounding buildings.

Barely a ripple disturbed steady reflections.

Before the street lamps ignited

wisps of grey smoke drifted against the pink sky presaging a sunset that disappeared behind lowering clouds.

The bandstand was nicely silhouetted with its mast guard.

In a vain attempt to catch the sundown we drove on to Lymington and Keyhaven Nature Reserve from where

Jackie photographed clouds over the wetlands;

pools along a gravel footpath;

and distant Hurst Castle with its lighthouse.

I focussed on a gaggle of Canada geese.

For dinner this evening Jackie produced Hunter’s Chicken; crisp duchesse potatoes; and tender runner beans, with which she drank Hoegaarden and I drank Domaine de Sareval Valrรฉas 2016.

  1. Fabulous photos all round. Jackie is framing perfectly isn’t she – catching up with you sir! I kept thinking ‘that’s the best shot’ as I scrolled on down. Tell Nugget I can see him perfectly well, pretending to be shy……….

  2. Having lived 7 miles from the Pacific Ocean and spending a LOT of time on the beach, I really enjoyed your water, boat and harbour photos!!! Plus, I have always been fascinated by boats, planes, trains and automobiles!

    Nugget is playing peek-a-boo! ๐Ÿ˜€

    The way you and Jackie captured the light in your photos is so wonderful! The Assistant Photographer needs an upgrade! Her photos are amazing! And you know I like when she captures The Great Photographer at work!

    The gaggle of geese are grand! I wonder if they were giggling?! I wonder if they’ve ever googled?! I bet they are glad you had chicken for supper! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ ๐Ÿ˜› HA! I cracked myself up! ๐Ÿ˜€
    HUGS!!! ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. You and Jackie are great photography buddies. I love all of the shots of the boats. Poor little Nugget has a “nugget” on his head in the first shot. What was that? ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. It is one of the bolts of the greenhouse behind him! I saw that and had to go and check it out.

  4. Nugget is so preoccupied with his feeder that he is not even hiding; he is in plain view right next to it.
    All these masts remind me how much I miss our boat. Sailing is such an incomparable pleasure!

  5. Little Nugget has his own feeder! He looks fat and chipper. ๐Ÿ™‚

    I enjoyed the photos that you and Jackie took today. Winter’s grey skies with a hint of sun and pink clouds are always beautiful to me.

  6. Thanks for the picture of the young woman and her cigarette. It was the most difficult thing I ever did, giving up, and it’s nice occasionally to be reminded of the benefits accrued from the struggle, like not dying.
    By the way, the geese are Canadas and the gull may be a cormorant but it’s very difficult to decide with no colours to help, so my jury is still out on that one.

    1. Thank you very much, John. Jackie was just saying she thought the gull was a cormorant and I replied that you would sort it out for us. It was a toss up for me about the geese. I’ll change that – I was it two minds.

  7. Great pics. You are so good at capturing some awesome moments. Sorry I haven’t bee blogging lately, but been too busy with health isuues(so what’s new?) and getting ready to transition from my RV into my condo. Lots to do and still need a buyer for my RV. Have no idea what to do with it. I have no place to put it.

  8. Loved my trip to the harbour Derrick and seeing the reflections on the water as well as in your mind..
    Today has been a rare day of Sunshine here, So made the most in our garden.. ๐Ÿ˜€
    Have a enjoyable weekend both of you ๐Ÿ™‚

  9. Mr Nugget is just behind his personal feeder. Jackieโ€™s perspective ticks all the boxes of field photography. Those bangs are as sexy as it can get! The quayside photos are superb. The smoker with mobile is a gem of a shot. The watchful man and the rower are excellent shots too.

  10. I always love the look of a marina. The evening light was splendid for you here.

    It looks like a seed stuck to the top of Nugget’s head? I like how Jill called it a nugget.
