Splashed Stalactites

This morning Nick Hayter performed more painstaking preparation work on our kitchen. Apart from exemplary decorating he exhibits enviable flexibility.

An Antipodean friend, in order the more safely to transport some important paperwork to another part of the UK, e-mailed the documents to me to print out and post in snail mail. This mission was carried out this afternoon. Jackie drove me to Everton Post Office where I posted the package.

The overflowing ditch at the corner of Woodcock Lane sports an excellent puddle with reflections and the possibility for passing motorists to splash potential stalactites to drip in sub zero temperatures.

Striated skies streaked over Walhampton.

This evening we dined on Jackie’s spicy chicken jalfrezi and pilau rice with vegetable samosas. I drank more of the Recital.

  1. So many stunning splashed stalactites make a delightful display in the sparkling sun! These really are magnificent Derrick.

    1. As Anne says, they are simply stunning stalactites – a really unusual and special display!
Walhampton’s sky is beautiful too… I’m sure there is a little, tiny hint of ‘red sky’ there tonight?!
Your kitchen is looking so bright and cheery – well done, Nick 😉

  2. Those stalactites are amazing, the last time I saw anything like that was when potholing in the Dales… a long time ago!

  3. You can’t beat a Chicken Jalfrezi! I love my meat, but one of the best Jalfrezi’s I had was a vegetable one in Delhi a couple of years ago. The flavours were just heavenly. Thank you for sharing more of your wonderful photos Derrick

  4. Wonderful shots all, Derrick. The vehicle produced stalactites make for interesting photographs for sure. I’m sure you will be pleased when your remodeling is complete.

  5. Nick is doing such great work! YAY, Nick! 🙂
BTW: I could sit around all day and watch men work. 😉 🙂
Love the ice photos…it is so beautiful how the icicles decorate the trees and anything they can get a hold on. 🙂
Your reflection photos and sky photos are always the bestest! 🙂
HUGS to you and Jackie!!! 🙂
    PS…
Q: How does Frosty the Snowman get around?
    A: By icicle. 😛

  6. I’m accustomed to seeing such icicles around fountains. Lucky you, to have such delights along the road. Your mail tale reminded me of life in Liberia, where mail for the States had to be collected from the various bush stations and carried down to Monrovia, where it would be deposited at the main post office. Even so, nothing was guaranteed, but at least the odds were improved.

  7. THose were neat to see by the roadside.
Your kitchen will likely be wonderful and the house reno has been fun to peek at while in progress. Also, the first pictures make me think of my son who (with his partner and wife) owns a painting company (he’s a licensed contractor)…but after another look, I realized he is repairing areas–spackling?

  8. Nick is doing a fine job on the inside there. You are lucky to have found such good workmen.

The icicles almost look like some elaborate musical instrument. Played by sprites and faeries perhaps? 🙂
