A Productive Day For The Head Gardener And The Maintenance Department

Today’s pattern for me was very similar to yesterday’s, in that I spent much time wrestling with uploading photographs to WordPress, and eventually was forced to give up on one; intermittently applied myself to scrapping or shredding fifteen years of paperwork; and posted https://derrickjknight.com/2021/11/14/a-knights-tale-64-changes-in-residential-care/ with photographs which were already in my WP media file.

The Head Gardener and The Maintenance Department, on the other hand, had a very productive day.

Her wrestling was with the far more manageable wreckage of the wisteria arbour, which necessitated a heavy prune enabling her to free the fallen posts. She has recovered her favourite view down the garden from the stable door.

The following day I successfully fought to upload the last photograph in the series.

I had managed to clog up the shredder by overloading it and working it too long. Jackie unclogged it and insisted on sharing the task – probably to ensure that she would not need to repeat the exercise.

This evening we dined on Jackie’s stupendous, wholesome, winter stewp, thick enough to stand a spoon up in it, with fresh, crusty, yet soft, bread rolls. She drank Hoegaarden and I drank more of the Fleurie, which involved opening another bottle.

  1. Ooooh, dinner sounds delicious, Derrick! I’m sorry that the storms tore your garden up so badly, what a mess! I’d take a chainsaw after that pile.

  2. I think every day is a productive day for The Head Gardener, whether in her gardening or any of her other many roles! Isn’t the twisted wisteria in your header photo beautiful – amazing how the stems do that, as though hugging each other to strengthen themselves as they grow.
Very frustrating about the uploading difficulties… Grr 🙁 !

  3. The Head Gardener hard at work! While the rest of us are hardly working whilst on WordPress! 😉 HA! 😛
Brava, Jackie! Your smile is like a beautiful warm sunshine-y-ray on a dark stormy day! 🙂
    (((HUGS))) and <3

  4. I’m glad you took a break from the shredding to get outside photograph the lovely lady with the beautiful smile. It’s great to be productive and happy at the same time.

  5. I am so pleased Jackie has been able to save a part of the wisteria and she has her view again! I am sorry you have had such a frustrating day with slow up-loading of photographs and blocked shredders.

  6. Restorative work underway in the garden appears massive. I am waiting up for lightened up views of the arbour. I suspect similar exercise is needed to clean up WordPress which appears hell bent on dismantling what was once a wonderful platform.

  7. I always like your last paragraph about what you ate and drank ?. I am reading Eating India by Chitrita Banerji. It is about food , her personal experiences and history. I am enjoying the book. I think you will like it.

  8. Those photos of Jackie in the garden are wonderful. What a smile she has! And she should feel good about all that work and recovered view.
My husband is our designated shredder because I always get impatient and clog it up. ?

It’s the season for soup and stewpt–and with good, crusty bread!

  9. I can’t remember if I asked you this earlier, but — if a photo won’t upload, and I get one of “those” messages about it, I’ve found that renaming the file will sometimes solve the problem. Even a small change, like from “talltree” to “talltree2” can do the trick.

  10. Wonderful photos of Jackie and her attempts to clean up the garden. I always enjoy learning what you had for supper, especially your wine choices.

  11. “Jackie’s stupendous, wholesome, winter stewp, thick enough to stand a spoon up in it, with fresh, crusty, yet soft, bread rolls.” This sounds amazing and I am now craving some. It would be oh, so perfect on a cold wet day here. All that work in the garden is evident from the photos. Jackie works so hard, year round out there. It’s cleanup and put away time of year, and I know how much work it can be. I admire her for it. You too, because I know you’re always out there too. 😉
