Barnard’s Inn

This morning I posted https://derrickjknight.com/2022/01/15/a-knights-tale-92-violence/

After lunch I read more of “Great Expectations” and scanned more of Charles Keeping’s inimitable illustrations.

‘It is a most miserable thing to be ashamed of home’

‘Joe and Orlick went at one another, like two giants’

‘Biddy turned her face suddenly towards mine’

‘Mr Trabb’s boy was the most audacious boy in all that countryside’

‘Barnard’s Inn’

Our dinner this evening consisted of well-cooked roast beef, potatoes, and parsnips; tender cabbage; crunchy carrots, crisp Yorkshire pudding; and meaty gravy, with which Jackie drank Carlsberg and I finished the Faugères.

  1. Sounds like you had a relaxing day and your Sunday lunch was fifteen hours early.
Our supper will be a Chinese takeaway which expected at seven o’clock, in around five minutes time.

  2. I can’t wait to get into my new copy of Dickens’ 3 novels, it does not have these sketches. I’m thinking of printing some of them out and including in the book.

  3. I so admire Mr. Keeping’s attention to detail and the power of suggestion in his lines. I hope the rest of your weekend goes well.

  4. The details in Mr. Keeping’s building illustrations are fabulous! I love perusing them slowly.
And you know I love the faces, expressions, clothing, movement, etc., in his other drawings. 🙂
    (((HUGS))) 🙂

  5. Those illustrations are so very clear and each time something new. It is interesting that your selection referred to the two boys fighting while the other post was about your attack by the person at work
