To The End Of The Day

Before lunch I sent an e-mail scan of the resubmitted probate form to the relevant Government Department; afterwards I posted the form and a covering letter in snail mail.

From Everton Post Office we took a forest drive.

The landscape with horses in rugs alongside Barrows Lane was nicely lit by the late afternoon sun.

The corrugated iron building is in that same lane; the farmhouse and wonky outbuilding in Mead End Road.

Jesus beams burst from lowering clouds onto the tree lines along Burley Road.

A group of donkeys outside Brockenhurst, chomping on thorny shrubs near where Jack parked the Modus gradually transferred from one side of the entrance drive to the other to try their luck from our vehicle, especially as I had disembarked to photograph them and

the ponies on the other side of the road.

Soon it was time to head back to the pharmacy at Milford on Sea to collect medication then take in

the beginnings of golden sunset tinting the foamy waves, the spray rising from the rocks, and the sturdy wooden breakwaters.

Then on to Barton on Sea as the sun was sinking and walkers watched this phenomenon or turned away from it.

This evening we dined on lefties from Saturday’s Chinese Take Away, with which Jackie drank Hoegaarden and I drank more of Hardy’s Crest.

  1. I love the the Jesus rays and the second golden sunset with just the sun, the sky, and the sea. I also really like the gray-green color of the trees in the first photo.

  2. What a beautiful day. Wish I could take a drive and see sights like that. For me it would be quite a drive indeed!!

  3. Another very beautiful gallery, Derrick! I would love to see these locations in person. The donkeys are so cute! ❤️??

  4. This is the first time I’ve heard of “Jesus Beams”. I do however remember singing in Sunday School, “Jesus wants me for a sunbeam.” 🙂 Beautiful photos of the beams and the sunset., Derrick. The lone walker looks quite bundled up. Such sweet ponies, especially the black and white one.

  5. I think the term Jesus rays originally referred to the Transfiguration on the mountain when Jesus told his disciples he was going to die.

When I taught RE, Sophie drew images for my slides and we used the rays for effect to show Jesus ascending into heaven, but I don’t think that was correct I think in that instance it was a cloud.
    Anyway, I loved today’s drive.

  6. Darling dappled donkeys! YAY! I love love loves the donkeys! 🙂 Thank you for disembarking to photograph them.
The buildings you photographed have such character, life, and unique textures!
The sky, clouds, sun and waves put on their best show for you today! 🙂
    (((HUGS))) 🙂

  7. A beautiful forest drive with adorable donkeys and ponies! I especially love the dun coloring on that one pony. Sunset on the water was a perfect ending to this set of photos.

  8. I hope all goes well this time with probate. Love the sun rays coming through the clouds. My granddaughter once said to me: “Look Ma. There’s a hole in the sky.” 🙂 Whatever one wants to call it, it’s certainly a beautiful sight.

  9. The walker and the bench is a nice photograph. When I viewed it in the gallery, I noticed a line of what appeared to be faint phantom suns along the top. Did you notice them in real time ? Perhaps they appeared inside the camera.
