Still More To Be Done

This morning Jackie did the lion’s share of the weeding and trimming, while I dead headed a few poppies, generally cleared refuse and added it to the compost bins, and dug out one large bramble. Unfortunately I can’t safely reach many more which will need to wait for Martin next week.

Before lunch I walked around with my camera.

Close scrutiny of these general shots, all of which are titled in the gallery, will reveal that there is still more to be done. The last picture is “Where’s Jackie?” (12)

Much of the afternoon was spent on continuing categorising Books posts.

This evening we dined on tasty baked gammon; creamy macaroni cheese; piquant cauliflower cheese; zesty red cabbage; and crunchy carrots, with which Jackie drank Hoegaarden, Flo drank Kombucha Ginger and Lemon; and I drank Faugères 2019.

  1. Lovely images, Derrick! We spotted Jackie after a quick perusal of the picture. And, be careful Derrick. Wait for Martin if you have any doubts, a fall is not worth it. It is so easy to over reach and/or do too much! 😉

  2. Jackie is pretty in pink! 🙂 Great photo! 🙂
A beautiful day in the garden! All of the different Beds are lovely! And looks like Dragon is busy on guard by the Head Gardener’s Walk. 🙂 Ooh, the brick path has artistic sun and shadows.
Yes, best to wait for Martin! Be safe!
    (((HUGS))) and ❤️ ? ? ??

  3. Wow! Everything looks beautiful! I found myself searching for Nugget, but instead found Jackie. Thanks for sharing, Derrick. May I ask what is baked gammon?

  4. Things are shaping up nicely, and spring is on its way to coming into full flower, so to speak. I enjoy the little pathways and seeing where they lead. I spotted Jackuie, of course–telltale pink.
And further, you could be a pro food reviewer, I think!–your descriptions of the meals are mouth-watering, and I am not a big eater!

  5. You are probably your own worst critic, but I can tell you that your garden looks a hell of a lot more tidy than mine. And I’m afraid it’s going to have to be that way for a while. I’m dying to spend even a few hours out there, but I just haven’t had the time. Hopefully that will change soon.

  6. The Lawn bed. I love that rhododendron the dark red. I have only just learned something new. It’s late I know. I read your post in the reader – usually. But then I read that all photos are labelled I couldn’t find it> Then someone clever told me I have to go to your SITE and then it all opens. I wonder if I am the only old dope what don’t no stuff?

  7. My plants need more work than yours and my area isn’t close to the same size! Even in this heat, I’d best get out there more.

  8. I spotted Jackie in pink behind the maple. She blends in well! That pink rhododendron peering out from within the green decorative maple is beautiful composition. Rhodies in my area are blooming now, though our own, not yet.

The temperature was down at freezing this morning, and more rain for this afternoon. Grass is growing vivid green long and lush in this weather. The ground is too saturated and squishy to do much mowing.

  9. Your garden is packed to the gills with bounties of Nature. No wonder it needs frequent deadheading and clearing sessions. Jackie is camouflaged by the purple-peach leaves of the ornamental tree, aided by the colour of her top, to the middle-left of the frame.

  10. Your garden always looks beautiful. I love all the paths, especially the Brick Path, the sign I could see in the “Where’s Jackie?” photo. (And spotted her in the background.)

  11. Après cinq mois d’hospitalisation je retrouve votre blog avec une grande joie .pouvez-vous m’ 4inscrire à nouveau car tout a été effacé ?

Je suis de la même génération que vous , j’ai les mêmes gouts

    Merci so much
