21 Chestnut Road

This afternoon we visited another NGS garden – 21 Chestnut Road, Brockenhurst.

This is my selection of photographs;

here are Flo’s. As usual each of these images bears a title in the galleries.

This evening we dined at Lal Quilla where the food and service was as good as ever. Jackie’s main course was Lal Quilla Special, Flo’s was Lamb Biriani, and mine was Chicken Jaljala. We shared pilau rice, sag paneer, egg paratha, and peshwari Nan. Jackie and I drank Kingfisher, while Flo drank J2O.

  1. The lovely lady surrounded by the white and purple flowers is my favorite, although the white iris and those tiny succulents are wonderful. What a nice day that must have been!

  2. I have heard from locals that there are usually open gardens in our region but with Covid sadly closing them for 2 years and then so much rain this year, many gardeners have given up and closed for good. I do hope that”s just local gossip. 🙁 I love the cottage garden photos. So many varieties and all beautiful.

  3. Another set of beautiful photos, both yours and Flo’s! Have to say that the shot of the statue in reflection threw us for a bit! Kudos for a near perfect reflection shot. 😉

  4. I like Flo’s photos and her comfy shoes. My favorites are the bee on the lavender and the circular allium garden.

  5. The subject garden is bountiful. The team of grandpa and granddaughter has relished in capturing the floral exuberance; the latter is sometimes a worthy subject too. Flo appears to have a liking for alliums. The last set of images are not titled, or it could be the flakey internet contributing to my botanical ignorance.

  6. I have enjoyed this visit – so many beautiful plants to see that it must have been difficult to know when to stop clicking 🙂

  7. HI Derrick
    Good to see that yu went to see Mary and Iain at the Open Garden Days – Chestnut Road
    Its beautiful and they have worked their socks off to get it looking so.

  8. Gorgeous photos, Derrick and Flo! Beautiful plants, flowers, statues, peoples, trees, bees, etc! 🙂 What a lovely day! And your meal sounds delicious! 🙂
    (((HUGS))) to all 3 of you!!! 🙂

  9. Great Iris shots _ I’ve always liked irises. Also liked the reflection – once my brain sorted it out. Surprised to see a Welsh poppy on an otherwise respectable garden – I always think of them as ruffianly interlopers, though anything is welcome in mine. 🙂

  10. Such a lovely garden and beautiful photos from both of you. Again I am amazed how different your photos are. Flo looks like she was enjoying herself. I like how she caught you as you were taking photos.

  11. Florida means ‘land of the flowers’, but I’m beginning to think that should be England’s name.
