A Splendid Market

Apart from a trip to Lymington Market, I spent most of the day completing the trimming of the photographs for insertion into the second wedding album for Karen and Barry.

We visited the market to allow Flo and Dillon to wander in their own time, while

I photographed some of the activity and Jackie waited in the St Barbe Museum café. As usual, access to the gallery will reveal individual titles.

On their return, our granddaughter and grandson by marriage put in a good gardening stint, including planting, clearing, and sweeping.

This evening we dined on racks of spare ribs in maple syrup sauce on a bed of Jackie’s savoury rice topped with a thick omelette, with which she drank more of the Pinot Grigio, Dillon drank water, and I drank more of the Shiraz Cabernet.

  1. A lovely market with some marvellous pictures in the gallery. In Nottingham, of course, the council is making strenuous efforts to get rid of the market. Too untidy.

  2. What delightful gallery of the Market, Derrick. Looks familiar to us, as our set up was (in years past) very similar to the stall with the towels. We had a very busy display selling blankets, sheets, pillows and towels. It was all the rage for several seasons. There was always a pile of boxes too for the recycle route. Lots of empty boxes meant lots of goods being sold, a successful sale!

  3. Lovely market Derrick .. Some lovely stalls…. Looks like a sunny day… we had it start out with rain…. But the gardens were thirsty and in need of a drink…
Wishing the rest of your weekend well <3

  4. What a wonderful market! I love markets!
Your photos are superb! Love seeing the baskets, fabrics, pots, bags…what a great way to spend the day! And fun to people-watch! 🙂
YAY for gardeners Flo and Dillon! 🙂
    (((HUGS))) for all!!! ❤️

  5. What a beautiful market. Great pictures, Derrick. I felt like I was strolling along. What are nork… (scrolling up because I can’t remember) ‘Nardicottes’? A form of apricot?

  6. I missed most of the market, because I got stopped at the baker’s stall, and spent the rest of the day enjoying fresh bread. Surely there was butter, somewhere!

  7. It was a pleasure to tour the market from the comfort of my own home. They have a nice variety of items and basic necessities.

  8. The gallery of candids, containing excellent frames and subjects, is an interesting burst of colours and faces. This is shopping stripped down to basics, devoid of glitz and extreme expenses of glass and steel arcades.

  9. An open market such as this one is fun to visit – and you are a good observer of people, places and things.

  10. That market looks fabulous! As I read the description of your fabulous dinner, I was wondering if England produces maple syrup or if it’s imported.

  11. Right. Will you please go back to that market and make the following purchases for me:

one of those bright coloured jackets (not blue) australian size 12

one or two of the bright coloured dresses in different styles (not blue) also Aussie size 12.

I can never find stuff like that when I do some half-hearted shopping. 🙂

  12. What a splendid market. No matter where we go in the world we always find a market, long may they continue here.

  13. I enjoyed seeing the Lymington Market. It looks like it is thriving.

I am glad you still have Flo and her husband to help you and Jackie. ❤️
