Hands

Helen and Bill visited this afternoon to meet their great niece.

Jackie’s sister, delighted to have a cuddle,

brought a still warm Fordingbridge Apple Fruit cake she had baked in honour of the event.

This was largely polished off during the course of the afternoon.

Flo was pleased when Jackie reached out to Ellie,

and when her daughter reciprocated.

This evening we dined on succulent roast pork with crisp crackling and Yorkshire pudding; sage and onion stuffing; roast potatoes; firm cauliflower and broccoli; crunchy carrots; and meaty gravy, with which Jackie drank Hoegaarden and I drank Barossa Valley Shiraz, 2021.

  1. AW! Ellie is so cute! And I know her smile brightens each and every day! 🙂
Ooh! Cuddles with a baby are so joyful! 🙂
(((HUGS))) 🙂 and ❤️ to all of you!
PS…Hands of all ages are so beautiful! 🙂

  2. Your post brought a smile and happiness, Derrick. It is a wonderful thing to see family across several generations gathered together to celebrate the newest member. I love Ellie’s tiny fingers holding onto Jackie’s finger. The time flies by and they grow fast, those little ones.

  3. Oh, Oh, Oh, Derrick – you captured absolute gold! Jackie reaching out to the babe under Flo’s contented gaze, and then Ellie reaching out to Jackie. That is just a wonderful sequence!

In an earlier post I was enchanted by Ellie’s eyes. Her mouth got my attention this time.

I tried Flo’s special hold on my 7 month old niece a bunch of times. She never cried, but she was never crying in the first place, so I can’t say it worked yet. More data to follow in the months to come.
