Today we enjoyed the company of Helen, Bill, Shelly, Ron, Anthony, Neil, Donna, Jane, Chris, David, Jen, John, Stephanie, Billy, Max; as well, of course, as Becky, Ian, Mat, Tess, and Poppy at what has become the annual Boxing Day party hosted by Jackie and me, and emceed by Ian who conducted his usual excellent quiz.
Guests first gathered in the kitchen and grazed on cold meats, cheeses, and salads left out to keep people going until Jackie’s later quantities of chicken and lamb jalfrezis with savoury rice; and beef in red wine with mashed potato and Yorkshire pudding, followed by various cakes and trifles.
The cooked meals were served after the main event of
Ian’s popular quiz.
The earlier arrivals conversed in various stages of animation until everyone had arrived and the quiz could begin.
Each of our two teams was led by a scribe who took down our answers. We compared scores at the end of each round. In the last picture in this group, Anthony tries to prise an answer from his brain.
Billy, Max, and Poppy made their own entertainments
When all was over, quite late in the evening, out came the mobile phones to check facts and elicit further information.
Looks like another good time. I don’t know where Jackie gets the energy from. 🙂

Ha – i know exactly how Anthony was feeling! We played an on-going quiz game every evening up til the Eve – and I ended up popping out to purchase some Gingko Biloba to help the old grey matter begin some form of functioning – it was a bit of a shock!! 😀

Nice gathering Derrick! Looks like you all had a wonderful time. I fondly remember attending these boxing day gatherings hosted by my English neighbors each year when Terry and I lived in Dallas, Tx. Before then, I had no clue about boxing day as it is not a day normally celebrated in America.

Do you have Pringles over there? We have these weird delicious potato chip things that are all pressed into the same shape and come in a can – I feel like I see a Pringles can in the third photo.
