This afternoon I posted https://derrickjknight.com/2022/09/05/moll-flanders/
As we sat down to dinner this evening flashing lightning, crashing thunder, and a precipitation tattoo on the Velux window overhead heralded relief from the pressure headache that had beset me all day. The threatened storm had broken.
Dinner consisted of Becky’s tasty linguini Bolognese with freshly grated Parmesan cheese. Ian drank Moretti; Dillon drank Cider; and I drank more of the Swashbuckler.
We had a very large thunderstorm last evening Derrick. Multiple lightning flashes in one go never seen so much lightning. Storm over our heads Spectacular to watch it lighting up All the sky..
Then precious rain.. torrential.. the grandees drank well. ππ
Thanks very much, Sue
Gardens
π That was a good one from WP
Very atmospheric. An excellent meal to accompany it.
Thank you very much, Pat
We have had clear, rain-less days here for months. A storm would be welcome relief!
I hope you get one, Diane. Thank you very much
Sounds dramatic! HA! π Kinda’ like Dinner and a Show! π π Your description of it is vivid and ignites the senses.
We’ve had a lot of rain from July on…soon it will lessen. We’ve had the best rains we’ve had in several years.
(((HUGS))) π
Thank you very much, Carolyn X
Glad you got rid of the headache!
Thanks very much, Maj
A good rain for your garden, Derrick!
But what is Swashbuckler.? π
In friendship
Michel
It is a South African Pinotage, Michel. Thank you very much my friend
It was a hell of a storm here. I slept through it but my wife said it was like the Frankenstein film, where the lightning is so strong that it allows the Baron to attempt to bring the creature to life.
Thank you very much, John
Storms visited Yorkshire too, but missed us completely, what a relief.
Thanks very much, Sue
My sister in Portsmouth got the storm too. She said it was spectacular.
It was. Thanks a lot, Tootlepedal
I am glad the pressure drop relieved your headache, Derrick! We don’t see many thunderstorms in our immediate area. They seem to go around us, though we can see and hear distant lightning and thunder. Hail and possible damage associated with these storms is what we fear most.
Thank you very much, Lavinia
Awesome. We so far have seen them on the horizon but thatβs as close as they have got.
This was the nearest I have experienced for a very long time. Right outside. Thanks very much, Gary
We used to get so many thunderstorms here in the summer, but I don’t think we’ve had one this summer. That or rain although it’s supposed to rain tonight and tomorrow. Hope your head is feeling better, Derrick π
My head is fine this morning, Barbara. Thank you very much
One of your shortest ever posts. But what a tremendous description of the breaking of the storm
Thank you so much, John
We’ve had steady rain all day today, but no thunderboomers. Your dinner sounds really good!
Thank you very much, Liz
You’re welcome, Derrick.
We had tropical downpours off and on all day today. I hope your head feels better, Derrick.
It is fine this morning, Jill. Thank you very much
I’m sorry to hear you suffer from pressure headaches. i’m glad your got both rain and relief.
Thank you so much, Alys. This has only been occurring in the last couple of years. We have had much more of this kind of weather, so I don’t know whether it is age related or not.
Thunderstorms can be delightfully dramatic – we get ever fewer in my part of the world – and cleanse the air beautifully. Your description of this one is great.
Thank you so much, Anne
We had a thunderstorm last night. Apparently. I slept right through it so maybe it was a gentle one.
Thanks a lot, Andrew
Rain, much appreciated by all and, in particular, the Head Gardener
Yes indeed, Sheree. Thanks very much
Wow! That sounds like quite a storm. And a nasty headache. Iβm glad both subsided!
Thanks very much, Jan
That sounds like quite a storm. It’s funny how we can feel them coming, isn’t it? I hope your headache is gone. Was Jackie not at dinner?
Jackie was with us. She didn’t have anything to drink. Well spotted, Merril π Thanks very much
You’re welcome, Derrick. I was afraid she wasn’t feeling well.
Thank you for that
You’re welcome. π
Thunderstorms visit our area every afternoon this time of the year. Mother nature can be so dramatic.
Thank you very much, Eugi
Most welcome, Derrick.
How wonderful! For me, just a little rain for relief would be most welcome π
I hope you get some, Rosaliene. Thank you very much
Stay safe from the storm, Derrick.
Thank you very much, Dolly
You are very welcome, Derrick.
Sometimes headaches come with thunderstorms!
I have learned that in recent years. Thank you very much, Ribana
