Today was pretty murky. This morning, through the window I watched blackbirds feeding on crab apples. They generally dropped the fruit onto the ground, flew down and ate themΒ where they fell.
This afternoon and early evening was spent watching rugby on T.V.
First came Scotland (in striped shirts) v. Georgia (in red).
Wales (in red) v. South Africa (in green) was to follow.
Finally we had England (in dark blue) v. Argentina (in blue and white stripes).
Any text would be in danger of spoiling. That lets me of the hook.
Jackie collected a takeaway meal from The Raj in Old Milton for ou evening meal. She drank Hoegaarden whilst I drank Reserve des Tuguets Madiran 2014. My main meal was naga prawn with special fried rice; we shared poppadoms, pooris, paratha, and sag bahji.
I really like the photos of the blackbirds, Derrick.
I have no interest in sports, but your photos certainly capture the action and emotion of the players.
Many thanks, Merril. That was my hope
I enjoyed your action shots, Derrick. I remember the rugby players during my college years…they were a rough crew.
Do you mind? I played until I was 45 :). Thanks, Lisa
No, I don’t mind. π
Touche π
There’s very little sport that I appreciate but I do appreciate the blackbirds! π
Thanks, Val. I hoped they would compensate somewhat π
Goodness. No wonder it’s referred to over here as football for the criminally insane. There was blood!! and ear protecters!! I wonder if they have the same concussion problems our American footballers do? The blackbirds were quite sedate in comparison. I like the idea of them feasting on crab apples.
Many thanks, Lisa. In England we say Soccer is a gentleman’s game for thugs; rugby is a thugs game for gentlemen.
Quite a warm and appetizing meal to enjoy after a day of Rugby.
A requirement, Ian. Thanks a lot
Ouch.
Thanks, Johnna. It wasn’t like that in my amateur day
A Rugby Binge eh? I’m looking forward to the cricket season starting ……. though it may just get rained off this summer!
Many thanks, Pauline. It was rather
Great action photos, Derrick.
Many thanks, Sylvia. Quite a fun experiment, watching the games through the lens π
Where’s the Wallabies & All Blacks, How can anybody publishing a post, with Rugby as it’s main theme, omit the Australian and New Zealand teams?
Ludicrous!
πΏ π XD π
What was it we did to the Aussies?
You forgot to mention us with reverence; in fact, you forgot to mention us. entirely. πΏ

Egads! Blood and passion right there on your screen! Very interesting post π
Many thanks, Cynthia
That’s very considerate of you not to, literally, give the game away. I wish the BBC were as good!
Thanks, John
Beautiful picture of the crab apples in the mist. My husband was busy watching football (soccer) all day.
Many thanks, Karen.
Birds are always one of my favorite subjects, Derrick. Your rugby shots were quite entertaining!
I got back from my Mom’s so was able to listen to 1st quarter on radio and finish watching our Ohio State University play football which went into two overtimes! This created fun texts to the guy (who lingers between friend and boyfriend) to sound off on. Guys are so emotional about sports! π I meanwhile got my laundry completed and rounded up three grandies to take to the movie, “Moana.” My son and co-worker, Linda, came. It has beautiful island and water, plus Pacific mythology in the animated film. My DIL was still shopping the madness sales with baby Hendrix. π
Many thanks, Robin, So you did your share of watching, too π
Fun photos and a relaxing day for you! I love the blackbirds and their eating habits
