For most of the day the house resounded with delighted squeaks
as Jackie photographed the various stages of the expert greenhouse assembly by Rob and Ollie from Broomhill Garden Buildings. The Victorian style is in keeping with the conservatory of Mistletoe Cottage next door.
Almost immediately she was inside the structure furnished with a folding chair and the table recently purchased for the purpose from Efford Recycling Centre.
It wasn’t long before the sun emerged for the first time today, and the greenhouse had its own doorstep adornments,
its internal hanging basket of petunias,
and some of the pots for which it was purchased.
I had prepared a set of Streets of London colour slides for scanning, but decided that anything else on this post would be sacrilegious. There is always tomorrow.
This evening we dined on Jackie’s superb sausage casserole, creamy mashed potato, and perfect carrots, cauliflower and runner beans. Jackie drank Hoegaarden and I drank more of the Fleurie.
What a gorgeous garden!
Thank you, Katie
Beautiful photos of Jackie!
Many thanks, Sofia
I am still smiling from sharing Jackie’s happiness.
Oh those smiles!! They can’t get any bigger – can they?!! Beautiful. That didn’t take long and Jackie is going to have so many countless hours enjoying it!
Thanks very much, GP
Isn’t she so fun?
Agreed. She shows such emotion!! Lovely woman.
What a happy post…I’m smiling too…the greenhouse is stunning.
Thanks very much, Jeanne
Now that is one happy gardner! She is so pretty!
Many thanks, Jill
Don’t forget not to throw stones.
๐ Thanks Bruce
Oh, I can imagine. Lovely to see the many happy faces of one Jackie. I especially like the one where she’s trying (unsuccessfully) to hide her joy.
Many thanks, Susan
Those smiles are contagious, I too smiled and chuckled all the way through this post. This series reminds me of those you used to love to take of the beautiful young Jackie – though those were much given to capturing the ‘moodiness’ mood of the time and these capture the joyful realisation of a dream……….. Well done Derrick!! <3
Very many thanks, Pauline, especially for the link with times past.
Nice.
Lovely little greenhouse.
Thank you, Sherry
There is very little that is better than pottering about in your very own greenhouse, enjoy every minute it’s lovely.
Very many thanks, Rob
Jackie looks at one with her new domain. And I don’t blame her – I LOVE that little greenhouse!
Very many thanks, Jenny
This post made me smile in delight along with Jackie. (She also took some wonderful shots of the beautiful garden and greenhouse.)
Many thanks, Merril
Love her beautiful smile! ๐
Thanks a lot, Amy
It’s perfect…we can surely understand those genuine smiles !
Thanks very much, Van
Oh what joy your green house shall bring. Warming me up again with your beautiful photos, brrrr, Zero here again. …
Thanks a lot, Ivor. I hope you warm up soon
Excellent greenhouse and so fun to share it with Jackie ( and you . . .)
Thanks very much, Jodie
Happiness is…
๐ Thanks so much for your usual pertinent comment, Mary.
Jackie looks delighted, as I would be with this winsome little structure (and practical to boot).
Many thanks, Lisa
I am full of envy! I would love a green house like that. ๐
Many thanks, Victo.
Sausage casserole again? Didn’t you have that yesterday or maybe the day before? Think you shold start looking around for a new chef, sees you’re getting into a rut! :'(
We would have had it three days running had Jackie not frozen the rest. She always makes enough for several goes. And it always matures a second time round. Thank you, Brian
Like most stews, casseroles they always taste better the second day. Sometimes I wonder why I bother eating them when first made’; I know I’m going to enjoy it a damned sight more on the morrow.
๐
Jackie’s face grinning in the greenhouse is the most beautiful flower in the whole garden. Love this post.
Very many thanks, Susanne
Jackie appears suitably thrilled! The Victorian style top is adorable. You have rightly preserved the unity of theme for this post. London streets are not going to go away anywhere.
Many thanks, Uma ๐
Simply beautiful!
Many thanks, T Ibara
What a beautiful greenhouse! Jackie looks so delighted – great captures of the source of happiness being built ๐
Many thanks, Mek
I’m so envious! That’s a perfect addition to your garden!
Very many thanks, Kerry
Ah, the glee on Jackie’s face! Enchanting. She’s like a princess in her castle, and she also has such a wonderful Knight. ๐น๐๐ก
Very many thanks, Rose
As always, we find something different in each of your blog. Just wonderfully presented. Regards
Many thanks, Harbans
My pleasure sir.
Jackie has such a wonderful smile! ๐ The greenhouse is lovely too! โค
Many thanks, Julie
Delightful photographs of a lovely event…. And my favourite Fleurie to accompany the occasion.
Many thanks, Roland
Derrick. I clicked to ‘Follow’ your blog several weeks ago, but I never get emails telling me each time you blog something.
I’m sorry to read that. I don’t think you are alone. May I suggest that you ‘Follow’ again. I do, incidentally, post daily.
Tell her I cried when I saw this. That greenhouse is a dream. I loved seeing the pure joy on her face.
Thank you, Flower. I certainly will.
Such expansive delights–greenhouse, garden, Jackie! That was a fun experience to share, thanks.
Many thanks, Cynthia
The greenhouse looks lovely, and Jackie so happy!
Thanks very much, Lavinia
Jackie’s glee would be so fun to capture and have a short “sound byte” for us to listen to, Derrick. I like how you called her verbal sounds “delighted squeaks!” ๐ ๐
My favorite photo is the sixth one down within this post (counting the header, #7 picture.) It shows how the colors are beautifully designed to be spaced apart. Noting red flowers very evenly spaced. ๐
Very many thanks, Robin. The Head Gardener is good at planting ๐
You’re a team but I am glad you give Jackie credit for her artistry and vision! It really is a wonderful skill. ๐ฎ
๐
What a beautiful greenhouse. I can understand Jackie’s delight and know she will do it justice!
Many thanks, Brenda
Beautiful garden, Derrick. (Well, Jackie ๐). I could sit and admire it for hours.
Thanks a lot, Persia
