Archives

Having recovered the pictures for the months from August to December 2022, casualties of the transfer of my blog site, this afternoon I decided to go back to the beginning – 5th May 2012, and check on the posts going forward from this date.

This may take some time and will be tackled sporadically – that is, when I am in the mood. I had not even known that blog posts could be illustrated until a chance meeting with my friend Dominic, who said he preferred those with photographs. It was another month before I acquired my first digital camera which would be essential for the immediate accessibility required for a daily diary blog.

There were therefore very few photographs, from film images, in those early weeks.

I added header pictures to the following posts:

Elizabeth visited for convivial conversation and a cup of tea this afternoon.

This evening we all dined on Hordle Chinese Take Away’s excellent fare, with which Jackie drank Hoegaarden and I finished the cabernet zinfandel.

    1. I’m not really. Jackie has taught me to pace myself in my old age πŸ™‚ Thanks very much, Liz

    1. Thank you so much, Lavinia. It gets easier as I improve my processes – at the regularity helps me remember.

  1. Wow, you’ve been very busy working on your site, great! I like the first photo, not a recent photo. β€οΈπŸ‡¬πŸ‡§

  2. Do what is important to you. Follow the whim of mind, the steadfast love around you, and the always immersing of nature. We are part of the sublime.
Let us continue to discover where we are in the depths and the lightness around and within.

  3. You are putting in a lot of good hard work. The good news it you can do all of this as you want to….when you can. No rush. πŸ™‚
YAY for take-away! Always a nice break for those who do the cooking and the clean up. πŸ™‚

  4. Now I have no excuse for not reading your older posts, Derrick, though it was never a question of photos, more of being daunted by the sheer volume of output! Hopefully, as you sporadically add photos, I shall follow in your wake as reader. So your efforts will not be in vain!

  5. I went back to Scent of a Squirrel (ewww) to see what the evocative header photo here was all about.
Such a lot of work to go back and add photos!

Lots of fans here of Chinese take out. Yours seems to be excellent. πŸ™‚

  6. Seriously. Why do you do it? I like blogging and the blogging community and genuinely question why we do it. Is your blog a diary? Is it a historical record? Why are the recovered photos so important? I am attempting some sort of literary (blogging) criticism here, I am back in sixth form English Literature classes. I apologise for being inquisitive/intrusive. I started my blog in 2016 and hoped that my children would be interested in my life but so far it has turned out that they are interested in today and tomorrow but not yesterday. Apologies in advance for being philosophical today.

  7. When I started I didn’t use photos either but I think it was much later before I twigged that photos made posts more interesting.
