A Phone Conversation

Today the rain fell down and the wind got up, so I spent it making good headway on Emil Zola’s “Nana”.

For any other child of her age, if it is a small black oblong device, it will be a magnet. So it is with Becky’s mobile phone carried about by Ellie late this afternoon.

I rang the number and, photographed by Jackie, entered into conversation, her granddaughter being assisted by Becky. Click on any image in either of the two pairs above to enlarge in the gallery.

This evening we all dined on Ashley’s crisp fish and chips; mushy peas; and curry sauce; Lidl pickled sliced gherkins, and Garner’s pickled onions with which Jackie drank Hoegaarden and I finished the Languedoc- Roussillon.

  1. Aww, Ellie is so adorable, Derrick! I like your living room, it looks very warm and cozy. Fish and Chips – yes, please! So good. ☺️???????????? It’s been raining here for three days now, my neighbor and I want this to go away, we need our sunshine! ????????

  2. The magic of spending time with a child like Ellie is that everything is magical! I wondered if the peas were mushy on purpose, so I looked it up and found recipes. I guess it’s like mashed potatoes but with peas.

  3. Aw and Ha! So sweet! So fun! It’s amazing how quickly little ones figure out phones!

I can’t even imagine where technology, computers, and phones, and their capabilities, will be when Ellie is an adult.

The advancements and changes in our lifetime have been unbelievable. From a clunky rotary phone “tied” to the wall with a cord to “computers” we carry in our pockets and purses. (shocked face!)
    (((HUGS))) ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

  4. Love the picture. So sweet in a nice and comfy home…
Our granddaughter, now 4, grabs her mother’s phone and puts it up close to her mother’s face for Face ID… ????

    1. 🙂 Amazing what they are growing up with. Mind you, Ellie would not have known watches had she not started life with us.

    1. Indeed. The trouble is she is puzzled that her toy one doesn’t do the same. Thanks very much, ootlepedal

  5. I would love to have been there to help you finish that Languedoc- Roussillon, and to watch Ellie play with the phone. What a cutie she is!! I loved these pictures… felt like I was back in the living room with you! Hugs to you & Jackie <3
