A Rapid Price Increase

A few days ago Becky had spotted a brand new unworn jacket in the Oakhaven Hospice window. She decided it was too good an opportunity to pass up, but wasn’t sure whether it would fit her husband or her father.

We both tried it on. On my birthday yesterday I discovered that I was the lucky one, for it was parcelled up as one of my presents.

It had, however rapidly increased in price.

Since this was another day of incessant rain I spent the afternoon reading a book I should be able to feature tomorrow.

This evening we finished our Royal Takeaway meal from yesterday, with which I drank more of the Cahors.

  1. What a pity the price had increased – we usually reduce prices after a few days in the charity shop where I volunteer. You look smart in it nonetheless.

  2. I was not in town to wish you a happy birthday yesterday, but it was marked on my calendar, and I remembered you. I am sure it was a good one, with family around. I think the jacket was an excellent gift. You do wear the light colours so well. Here’s to another remarkable year, Derrick.

Pedro and I spent a four-day weekend camping with my traveling buddy, Margaret, and her boyfriend Allen. He said that ever since they have been dating, he has heard so much about our travels together. He insisted that right there on the spot we agree to go somewhere together without the men. I told Margaret that I have two blogger friends (and their spouses) in England that I am dying to meet. So…expect to see us in 2025. 🙂

  3. Oh, what a wonderful birthday gift! Do you call it your “birthday suit”? Just teasin’!
You look great in your new jacket! How sweet of Becky! 🙂
    (((HUGS))) 🙂 ❤️❤️ 🙂

  4. A belated very Happy Birthday Derrick! I must say you look terrifically dashing in the jacket.

  5. A 1570% price increase by the time I got it home. That’s the cost-of-living-crisis for you! I blame the invasion of Ukraine. Looking good though.

  6. A 1570% increase by the time I got it home. That’s the cost-of-living-crisis for you! I blame Brexit and Putin. And probably Boris and covid.
    Looking good though.

  7. It is an elegant jacket. I’m glad she didn’t buy you a suit. Derrick in his Birthday Jacket is one thing, but Derrick in his Birthday Suit would be a completely different level of photo. happy Birthday, and may you have many more.

    1. Thank you so much, Quercus. Have you asked to be my friend on Facebook? I am always concerned that these requests might not be genuine – as has happened.
