The West Bed Pathways

This morning, while Martin was working on the West Bed, Jackie and I transported the last nine bags of green refuse and various wooden and metal broken bits to the Efford Recycling Centre.

Martin completed his clearance task, including re-fixing a fallen trellis,

and planting rhubarb.

This afternoon I published

This evening we dined on smoked haddock fish cakes; piquant cauliflower cheese; boiled new potatoes; crunchy carrots; firm broccoli; and tender runner beans

  1. I hope you’ve a nice wide spot for the rhubarb, I’ve never known anything spread as much as this one does. Some delicious pies and crumbles coming your way. Custard or cream topping?

  2. I had my mates round to do our garden yesterday. I like them, I have known one for years. I variously refer to them as Slash and Burn, the Cowboys or the Light Brigade (because of the way they charge). However, calling them gardeners is stretching a pint. My sister has said that when we move she will give us details of her reliable man if we need help. You seem to have some good tradesmen.

  3. Derrick, it looks like the sun was shining today and that the three of you got a lot done.

I realize how fortunate we are to have curbside, green waste pickup in our community. That’s a lot of work hauling all those bags on a regular basis. The garden is looking tidy and healthy.

    1. Thank you very much, Alys. We have a pick up service of one large bag once a month. That wouldn’t last us 🙂

  4. YAY for Martin!
    YAY for rhubarb!
YAY for owls! (They always make my day! 🙂 )
Your header-photo of the owl waiting patiently for the sunlight to reach him is so sweet! 🙂
    (((HUGS))) ❤️❤️

  5. We are experiencing some light rain today … it prickles the gardening senses and so I can imagine myself digging into the softened ground tomorrow. Your garden is an inspiration.

  6. I love that you have such a varied garden that you need to distinguish the paths. You are all very busy there, and you will be enjoying the rhubarb in the spring. Yum!

  7. “Haddock cakes”? Hmmm. Interesting. I don’t think I ever had those… Aren’t those more for breakfast? Or is it just a cliché in my “Frog” head?
