This morning, while Martin was working on the West Bed, Jackie and I transported the last nine bags of green refuse and various wooden and metal broken bits to the Efford Recycling Centre.
Martin completed his clearance task, including re-fixing a fallen trellis,
and planting rhubarb.
This afternoon I published
This evening we dined on smoked haddock fish cakes; piquant cauliflower cheese; boiled new potatoes; crunchy carrots; firm broccoli; and tender runner beans
The garden looks fantastic, guys!! 🥰
Garden looks fabulous and Martin is certainly a gem. Dinner sounds good. Keep up the good work.
Thank you very much, Pat
You two must surely be the best customers at the recycling centre?
I reckon so, Andrew. Thank you very much
Looks just the most wonderful garden to explore.
Thank you so much, Gary
You have all been busy… Lovely photos and Love Rhubarb.. xx
Thank you very much, Sue XX
I love the sunlight in the header photo.
Thank you very much, Liz. You are a good picker
You’re welcome, Derrick. 🙂
Beautiful garden…and Jackie’s meals always sound sooooo amazing!
Thank you very much, Donna
I hope you’ve a nice wide spot for the rhubarb, I’ve never known anything spread as much as this one does. Some delicious pies and crumbles coming your way. Custard or cream topping?
Custard always. Thank you very much, Sue
I always enjoy seeing all the “owls” , Derrick
Thank you very much, Ivor
What a lovely meal.
Thanks very much, Tootlepedal
Your garden is absolutely lovely. I especially like all those adorable owls.
Thank you so much, Laurie
I had my mates round to do our garden yesterday. I like them, I have known one for years. I variously refer to them as Slash and Burn, the Cowboys or the Light Brigade (because of the way they charge). However, calling them gardeners is stretching a pint. My sister has said that when we move she will give us details of her reliable man if we need help. You seem to have some good tradesmen.
We are very fortunate. Thank you very much, Quercus
🙂
Yay for recycling! The garden looks great! I love the owls and the ferns.
Thank you very much, JoAnna
New potatoes. Yes!
The garden looks wonderful.
Thank you very much, Bridget
Derrick, it looks like the sun was shining today and that the three of you got a lot done.
I realize how fortunate we are to have curbside, green waste pickup in our community. That’s a lot of work hauling all those bags on a regular basis. The garden is looking tidy and healthy.
Thank you very much, Alys. We have a pick up service of one large bag once a month. That wouldn’t last us 🙂
Oh dear! That’s not remotely adequate for your amazing garden.
Thank you very much, Alys
Rhubarb! LOVE it, it comes out in spring and is the first one I can cook into desserts!
Thanks very much, Ilze
YAY for Martin!
YAY for rhubarb!
YAY for owls! (They always make my day! 🙂 )
Your header-photo of the owl waiting patiently for the sunlight to reach him is so sweet! 🙂
(((HUGS))) ❤️❤️
Thank you so much, Carolyn XX
We are experiencing some light rain today … it prickles the gardening senses and so I can imagine myself digging into the softened ground tomorrow. Your garden is an inspiration.
Thank you very much, Anne
I love that you have such a varied garden that you need to distinguish the paths. You are all very busy there, and you will be enjoying the rhubarb in the spring. Yum!
Thank you very much, Merril
Martin certainly is a hard worker.
Thanks very much, GP
The header is lovely and the owl seems to be guarding the garden against predators.
Thank you very much, Eugi
You’re welcome, Derrick.
The gardens look green and inviting going into autumn, Derick and Jackie. Much love to you both.
Thank you very much from each of us, Lavinia. XX
I sure wish we had a Martin here to help with the yardwork!!
Thank you very much, Jan
Thank you very much, Pedro
I need a Martin. My flowers are acting tired. Frost is growing very close.
Thank you very much, Andy
You’re welcome.
We all need a Martin!
I’m so glad to see rhubarb. It is surprising that it is not as commonly known these days.
Thanks very much, John. No Victorian garden was without it
“Haddock cakes”? Hmmm. Interesting. I don’t think I ever had those… Aren’t those more for breakfast? Or is it just a cliché in my “Frog” head?
I guess you could have them whenever you like, Brian. Thanks very much
Keep up the great work.
Thanks very much, Pat
I like the head photo of the little owl peeking out among the greenery.
Thank you very much, Dolly
Great work!
Thank you very much, Riba
