Further Along West Bed

This morning Jackie and I transported another fifteen bags of garden refuse to Efford Recycling Centre from the heap that had continued growing in the last couple of days.

In the meantime Martin made sure that what was left was more than we started with.

He cleared far more than I had left in the West Bed, and

littered the Brick Path once more,

not failing to clear and bag up the debris.

Jackie continued working in the shade of the wisteria, where she proudly inspected the lily bulbs she had found.

This evening we dined on Nando’s peri-peri sauce on Jackie’s roast chicken pieces, with her colourful savoury rice; firm cauliflower, and tender runner beans, with which I drank a deliciously smooth La Réserve de Sociando Mallet 2016 Haut-Médoc by Sylvie et Jean Geautreau which Tesco clearly hadn’t been able to sell at £28.00 so Jackie splashed out and bought it on Yellow Ticket at £15.40.

  1. Ohh dinner sounds delicious, guys! 15 bags, that’s a lot of refuse, they must know you well at the recycling center/centre! Martin is a real gem! 😊

  2. You must have every plant there is! Lol It is a lot of work keeping a garden from getting overgrown, you sure have some excellent help Derrick. How much land is your garden on?

    1. The whole plot, including the house, is about 1/3 of an acre. Thanks very much Diane

  3. It was hard to spot Martin in the beginning but then he appeared. You told us what you took to the recycling centre but you didn’t tell us what treasures you came home with or ‘with which you came home’ if I want to be pedantic.

  4. Another busy day for you. Are you still in Teeshirts? Despite the sun shining during last few days it’s a little chillier up here and jackets are a must.

  5. It is a great idea to get the garden cleared before the onset of winter. I am glad you have such splendid assistance!

  6. Sounds like a productive day in the garden! It’s always amazing how quickly those heaps can grow. The meal sounds equally wonderful 🙂

  7. What a team you three make–no wonder why your garden is so beautiful all year round. I agree Martin has a great smile, and Jackie looks very satisfied in that photo! (Do you have to worry about ticks where you are? I was diagnosed with Lyme disease recently, though I never saw the tick, just the bullseye it left.)

    1. We are warned about them, Merril, but so far they haven’t ticked us off. Thank you very much

    1. It sure is. Our next dump trip is on Monday. We won’t get it all in the car. Thanks very much, Dale

    1. Thanks very much, Sheree. I also liked your comment on Boldre to Botany Bay, but lost my response. (almost 800 were convicts)
