For lunch today we joined Helen, Bill, Shelly, and Ron at Camellia Restaurant in Everton Nursery. My choice was beef steak casserole with plentiful vegetables. I drank water.
In order to combat the suspect squirrel Jackie has purchased and installed a solar powered Motion Activated Animal Repellent that emits a high-frequency sound which small animals do not like but is inaudible to humans.
It does seem to have proved effective in deterring the squirrel.
She has also been clearing the mole’s ejected soil from between the stones of the footpath through the Weeping Birch Bed. This has been a daily task. We will see how successful this morning’s effort has been tomorrow.
This evening we dined on gammon sandwiches and tomato salad.
Good luck with the small mammal abatement program. Lunch sounds delicious. I’m hoping you are not experiencing too many side affects from the latest injection.
Feeling more normal today, Pat. It’s not an injection – it is installed directly into the bladder via the urethra 🙁
You can trap the squirrel and maybe the mole and relocate them several miles away.
I trapped a squirrel once and it made such a mess of itself overnight in the cage I couldn’t bear to do it again. Thanks a lot, John.
Oh, that’s sad, Derrick. Forget my suggestion. 🫣
I am glad to hear the audio deterrent for the suspect bulb thief is working, Derrick. I have seen similar things for sale over here for moles.
Thanks very much, Lavinia
Hope that works.
So far it has, Andy. Thanks very much
Good.
A lot of those repellents are inaudible to adults but can be heard by teenagers!! A grumpy local postmaster used to use one at his sub post office- he believed that all young people were thieves and trouble makers.
That causes cackles here, Kim. Thanks very much
I wonder if the high-frequency repellent would work for mosquitos …
I doubt it, Ivor. Thanks very much
Damn …
A Motion Activated Animal Repellent!? Just verified that it’s also available here. My sister will be happy with the news 🙂
It has worked so far. Thanks very much, Rosaliene
Good to know 🙂
YAY! Maybe those goofy pesky squirrels will move far far far away. 🙂
How are you feeling today, Derrick?
Continued prayers, healing wishes, and hope you both get a good night’s sleep.
(((HUGS))), too, of course! ❤️❤️
Much more normal today, thanks, Carolyn xx
Good to hear! ❤️
We bought one of those to deter cats. It had no success and was very heavy on batteries. I hope that yours is more effective against squirrels.
So far so good, Tootlepedal. Ours is solar powered. Thanks very much
Sounds like a successful day.
Thank you very much, Liz
It’s good to hear that Jackie has found a good squirrel deterrent.
Thanks very much, Liz
You’re welcome, Derrick.
A solar powered Motion Activated Animal Repellent! I’ve wondered if those things worked. Good to know! Thanks for trying this. I definitely would NOT use poison which can have terrible consequences.
Thank you very much, JoAnna
That is a fancy gadget which seems to have had the desired effect. Is it effective against pigeons too?
We hope not, Uma. Thank you very much
Always a new thrill in gardening. Mine is the dogs mining the grass for cutworms, lifting huge chunks of earth and grass to extract them… and then (ugh) eating them!!! My lawn looks like a polo field where no one has replaced the divets!
That is bad. Thanks very much, Judy
I hope it proved to be successful, Derrick.
So far so good, Aletta. Thanks very much
This is a new form of animal repellent for me: I wonder if it works on marauding cats?
It claims to – and it has worked so far for the squirrel
I hope the deterrent works for you. In my house I have two plugin devices on two exterior walls, they emit high-pitched sounds to deter mice and rats.
Good luck!
Hope the rodent deterrent continues to work!
Thanks very much, Laurie
I’m interested to know if the sonar animal repellent works.
It worked immediately, Sherry. Thanks very much
I have got one of those. They do work.
Yes – ours has, too. Thanks, Andrew
Oh dear, these little creatures are making a mess.
Not any more, Robbie. Thanks very much
This year it’s been moles, many moles
Thanks very much, Gary
The smart squirrel might have found more hospitable locations.
I hope you are feeling better after the installation, Derrick.
Thanks very much, Dolly. It just took a couple of days
I am sorry about that, but those days are gone, and you are better now, Thank G-d.
Good problem solving! Have a wonderful week. We are enjoying a weekend in Italy with De & André and their middle son. Beautiful weather!!
Thanks very much, Jan. Good to learn of your weather
What a good idea but I’m not sure it’d work on the rooks, plus I wouldn’t want to upset Henry our resident lizard.
Certainly don’t disturb Henry. Thanks very much, Sheree
