Here is another batch of photographs which have escaped my cull of those in my iMac Photos:
While spending the weekend of 15-16 June 2013 with the Thompson Family we helped them lay out their garden in Mapperley: https://derrickjknight.com/2013/06/16/nits-2/ has more.
The next weekend saw us tending Elizabeth’s garden in West End: https://derrickjknight.com/2013/06/24/pick-the-bucket/
Then, the following day, Jackie’s garden around the side of our flat in Castle Malwood Lodge, Minstead,
before taking a trip to Mottisfont at Romsey: https://derrickjknight.com/2013/06/25/graham-stuart-thomas/
This horse having its hoof attended to in London Minstead features in: https://derrickjknight.com/2013/07/01/sir-william-harcourt/
The total in iMac now stands at 57,336. I have some way to go.
Now Jackie has added some from her work today:
New Dawn rose and spent rudbeckia flower heads;
and this mushroom sprouting from the top of the Weeping Birch trunk.
This evening we repeated last night’s Chicken and vegetables stewp and focaccia meal.
Lovely memories, Derrick. š
Beautiful photos. It is hard to chose which ones to keep.
I find it harder to decide which ones to delete š Thanks very much, Andy
It is a delicate I have too. I been going through 2024 pictures for family calendars. Stuff I take a picture of just to show my mom or Wrangler are easy to get rid of. The rest are harder.
An impressive body of work celebrating the past decade.
Thanks very much, Pat
Lovely photos and what a cute little mushroom on the birch!
Thank you very much, Anna. I’m pleased we have found each other again
It’s nice to be back reading your blog š
All through the post I was wondering about how the mushroom was managing to grow at that angle from a branch or trunk – then all was revealed! The number of photos you have taken it’s a wonder you didn’t ear out your knuckles rather than your knees.
I do have arthritis in a couple – not counting the two broken playing rugby. Thanks a lot. Quercus
It’s only when they start to stiffen that you realise how much you use them – shoelaces, typing, signalling to other drivers . . . š
Lovely photos from the garden
Thank you very much, VJ
Thank you, for sharing and brightening our days
“The total in iMac now stands at 57,336. I have some way to go.” That’s sounds like a fair comment. Good luck. I enjoyed the fungus.
Thanks very much, Tootlepedal
Oh, a miraculous magic mushroom atop the memorial tree trunk … mother nature being matronly munificent …
Thanks you so much, Ivor
You have such lovely photos of the early years. How nice!š„°
So many happy memories š From humble beginnings, a great gardener is born š Love the wise old tree in Mottisfont š Now, isn’t that a clever mushroom!
Thank you so much, Rosaliene
Love the header photo and the gnarly mossy trees. I’ve rarely if ever seen a mushroom growing on top of a stump. It looks like a piece of art. Gardening as a family activity is special.
Thank you very much, JoAnna. Jackie first thought Martin had placed it there
My iCloud storage seems to double every year,
Thanks very much, Gary
The mushroom earns today’s prize!
Thank you very much, Anne
All lovely photos and sweet memories.
Gotta’ say…that mushroom is the winner! š

Thanks very much, Carolyn, Yaaayy says Jackie XX
‘A life of gardening with Derrick J. Knight’.
How’s that for a book title?
A book with tales and photos of your time with friends and family, gardening in different locations and homes.
Lovely
Thank you so much, Mimi
Wonderful Derrick… š Our gardens bring us so much joy xx
Thank you very much, Sue XX
I LOVE the photo of the fish (koi pond)? The movement of the fish, the light, the ripples of the water, wonderful!!
Thank you so much, Liz. I think they were trout in a stream running through the garden
You’re welcome, Derrick. The fish didn’t have koi coloring, so I was unsure.
That mushroom is well spotted.
Thank you very much, Crystal
Others have said it but I repeat. The last image is the showstopper. Inspired by Jackie and you, I have thrown 3 bags of garden/balcony waste today.
Thank you very much, Rupali. We have 20 more bags from the last week
That time goes by so quickly, doesn’t it? Those are beautiful memories, Derrick and Jackie. I love that candy cane colored rose!
Thank you so from each of us, Lavinia
So many beautiful photos and memories! I agree with everyone about the mushroom photo.
Thank you very much, Merril
I never delete my old photos. I buy more storage space. When I go over my photos from a photoshoot I delete the bad ones then.
There have been too many I have kept because they record the days rather than for their quality as photos. Thanks very much, Sherry
I love the gardening images with the family.
Thank you very much, Sue. Jackie took those pictures
Now, which one do I like more, Rose Gallica or the cute mushroom? Hard to choose between the two, or amongst all of your marvelous photos, Derrick.
Thank you so much, Dolly
You are most welcome, Derrick.
Beautiful garden shots
Gorgeous photos! The garden is always magical!
You two certainly have green fingers (and thumbs)
Thanks very much, Sheree
