As I have now passed 60,00 pictures in my iPhotos I thought I must really press on with my culling.
There are no more from
nor any from
I kept just the obvious one from
Later, I defeated the object by guiding my camera around the garden.
Each of these images bears its location in the gallery.
In between times I made a good start on reading ‘Early Medieval England’ by M.T. Clanchy.
This evening we dined once again on Jackie’s wholesome chicken and vegetable stewp with fresh crusty tiger rolls. The Culinary Queen drank Zesty and I drank more of the merlot.
Your garden is really fabulous, dear Derrick!
Thank you so much, Luisa
You’re welcome, Derrick.
You are so very welcome, Derrick!
Another wonderful set of garden photos.
Thank you so much, Andy
You’re welcome.
The garden looks fabulous, guys!!
Thank you very much, John
Your garden is so beautiful–probably because Jackie is always working on it.
Good luck with deleting photos!
Thank you so much, Merril
You’ve been busy. I wouldn’t have to stoop for Stewp. I stand right up and say More Please.
I am defeating the object of my culling in exactly the same way as you. I am thinking of hiring Attila the Gardener to go through my pictures.
Thanks very much, Tootlepedal
LOL! You just can’t help yourself. Can you Derrick? Anyway, I love the new ones you added here.
Thank you so much, Chrissy
I have no idea how many photos are in my image files. I only keep a check on the hard drive space. If you resized the images after saving them, you would free up space on your computer.
10 full size images straight from your camera could equate to approximately 50 resized images. Just a thought
Peacocks resize my pictures regularly. I don’ know how to do it, Sue. Thank you very much XX
Such superb photos of the garden! Such beautifully artistic angles, shots, aims and views! Impossible to pick a fave photo!

I did see an owl!
(((HUGS)))
PS… I didn’t spot Jackie in #10. I’ll come back later and use my reading glasses to see if I can see her!
Thank you very much, Carolyn XX
That’s an awful lotta photos to cull, Derrick. Who could resist capturing all those beautiful flowers?
Thank you so much, Rosaliene
I can imagine how hard the photo culling would be. I should probably do some of that, too. One day at a time…. The garden has so many beautiful places. Thank you for sharing them with us. I always love the pathways, like Garden view from Gazebo Path to house, and the wisteria…
Much appreciated, JoAnna
What a happy garden!
Thank you very much, Cindy
Good Morning Derrick,
If I remember correctly, Peacocks’ software automatically resizes the images for web use after you upload them.
When you previously sent the photos to me, they had already been resized, and I assumed you had resized them with the built-in Apple software.
If I remember correctly, each image was too large for Tinyping to resize because it only resized 5000 pixels and under for free.
I’m sorry, Derrick. I was attempting to give you another way of freeing up space on your computer. Just forget I mentioned it; I don’t want to make things more complicated.
Your garden is well worth photographing
Thank you very much, Anne
Gorgeous garden Derrick. Good luck with that culling!
Thank you very much, Miriam
I use OneDrive instead of iPhoto or iCloud. I take the pictures off the cloud and store them on my computer. I have over 276,000 pictures and no problem storing them. I delete rubish ones while I process them. I use Lightroom to sort things. And keywords to find things. I’ve used up about 7 Terabytes so far. Storage is cheep. I use Backblaze to auto backup and external drives to manually backup.
Way beyond my competence or understanding, Sherry. Thanks very much
Everything there looks beautiful, Derrick and Jackie!
Turning leaves in autumn is one of my favorite things. I loved the story about Mr. Gabouli, and your growing up there. You painted a very good visual picture of him with your words.
You are telling the story of my life, culling g and then feeling the need to take 50 photos at the botanical garden.
Solidarity, Sylvie. Thank you very much
I compress all my images before I upload to my blog. Good for you for sticking with your culling project, Derrick.
Thank you very much, Eugi
Thank you for the beautiful garden tour! Best wishes for more successful culling!
Thank you so much, Jan
Once a photographer, always a photographer. It’s never easy culling photos, but you’ve been making good progress.
Thank you very much, Alys
I really enjoyed this post—especially the way you captured that constant tug-of-war between what we intend to do in a garden and what nature decides to do anyway. It’s a bit like life, really—meticulously planned, and then the weeds show up with their own ideas.
The line about “defeating the object” hit home. How often do we undo our own efforts trying to get everything just right? Your photos always make me feel like I’ve taken a quiet walk somewhere I needed to be. Thanks for sharing another thoughtful piece.
You have tune in so well, Tate. Thank you very much
We have almost 60,000 on DropBox but many of those are my OH’s.
The rest must be doors. Thank you very much, Sheree
There are quite a few doors
