Advent Day 1

Today I embark upon an Advent Calendar juxtaposing new and old Christmas decorations beginning with the communal green at Milford on Sea and some shop windows.

Elizabeth joined us for the afternoon, accompanied me on the photoshoot, and stayed by invitation for dinner.

Here is my gallery from the trip;

and here is Elizabeth’s.

Our dinner consisted of wholesome cottage pie; cauliflower, carrots, and Brussels sprouts with which I finished the pinotage and Elizabeth drank FreDamm beer

      1. You’re welcome, Derrick. “Bollard” is a new word for me! Now that I’ve looked up the word, I’ve seen plenty of bollards before; I just didn’t know what they were called.

  1. Beautiful photos. Christmas is special in your neck of the woods. I did spot the one flaw. The leaf blower tucked into the Christmas tree in the Nativity setting.
    I look forward to your Advent Day 2-25
    Cheers Gay

  2. Such wonderful photos! The decorations are lovely and so festive! Thank you for sharing them with us! They bring the smiles! 🙂
    I especially love the angel and the donkeys!
    (((HUGS))) ❤️❤️

  3. Derrick, I’m in a Christmas mood after all your lovely photos! 😀 The decorations are inventive and numerous, the robins on the post box are especially cute and no one would miss seeing the bollards now!

  4. I found myself reading the post of Advent day 7 and I realized I needed to back up and start from here…day 1.
    These are amazing decorations.
    Lovely photos Derrick

  5. Like Liz, I also learned the word “bollard.” I’ve been occupied, but I decided to go back to the beginning of the Advent series and catch up with you. These decorations remind me of Christmasses from my past, when people more often took the time to hand make and re-use decorations.
