A Festive Extension

This afternoon we were joined by Danni, Ella, Jack, Elizabeth, Helen and Bill when further exchange of presents took place.

Fairly slow for shyness to be overcome the children soon made up for that with plenty of noise and motion. As usual, clicking on any image will access the gallery with identification of participants.

Later we all helped ourselves to bowls of turkey and vegetable stewp in our own times.

  1. Looks like a classic Christmas – children and chickens always being good subjects. Having eaten in vegitarian style for Xmas, we still have the turkey for New Year. decisions, decisions . . .

          1. I loved that image of Ella brightening the day of those bin men as they drove past and waved back. She created happiness. 🙂

I remember waiting in line at a bank back east, seems so long ago now. A dark, rainy winter day. No one was smiling, no one said anything, just long unhappy lines at each teller. I waited my turn. Suddenly, from within the forest of legs of weary adults, a small child sang out, “Tra la la BOOM de ay, tra ta la BOOM de ay, tra la la BOOM de ay, tra la la BOOM de ay!” The silence was broken! There were smiles and laughter throughout the bank, and the gloom of a cold, rainy day was lifted. Those little innocent ones possess great powers. 🙂

          2. Lovely story, Lavinia. Actually, Ellie sings all day long, often substituting her own words.

    1. Ella and Jack are great-niece and -nephew; Ellie great-granddaughter; Bill is 91 year old brother in law. Thanks very much, Ilze

      1. Wow, that’s wonderful, Derick! It’s so lovely to have family spanning different generations and distances. Bill can’t possibly be 91—he looks so much younger! 😊 Thank you for sharing, and it’s heartwarming to see how connected your family is
