This afternoon I posted https://derrickjknight.com/2022/03/08/a-knights-tale-113-terminal-illness/
Having read more of ‘Bleak House’ I scanned the next four of Charles Keeping’s exemplary illustrations.
‘It was a thing to look at, the three children close together’
‘Jo comes out of Tom-all-Alone’s’
‘How tranquil and happy she looked’
‘The little church in the park’
This evening we dined on Jackie’s tasty liver and bacon casserole; creamy mashed potatoes; crunchy carrots; and tender runner beans, with which the Culinary Queen drank Hoegaarden and I drank Ceo Mencia Bierzo 2019
I particularly like “The little church in the park.” It’s an evocative illustration.
Thank you so much, Liz. Like the graveyards we see all around us in this historic area
You’re welcome, Derrick.
The three children clinging to one another moved me. I can imagine them in other clothing as migrants or refugees.
Absolutely, Merril. Thank you very much
Ah, I assume from the beverages consumed that the Culinary Queen is feeling a little more like herself 🙂
Thanks very much, Anne. Much better today – still coughing, but head clear
The picture of the three childen is very arresting
It certainly is, Kim. Thanks very much
I love Keeping’s illustrations. I am not sure how he accomplishes so much detail and expression with minimal lines, but he is a master.
He is, indeed, Lavinia. Thank you very much
I do like the drawing of the children.
Yes, indeed, Sue. Thank you very much
Keepings illustration of the three children close together captured my attention this morning, as I sit here sadly thinking about the refugee children of the Ukraine, fleeing their warm homes, cuddly toys, and abandoned pets
Such a good link, Ivor. Thank you very much
Oh, liver and bacon casserole. I must get my shopping organised.
🙂 Thanks a lot, Tootlepedal
Such a moving illustration of the children.
It really is, Jill. Thank you very much
Norm loves lambs-fry and bacon but his cholesterol soars so he’s never touches it now.
Thanks very much, Chrissy. That is a shame
The ‘Little Church in the Park’ is a masterpiece of an illustration, as are indeed most of Keeping’s drawings.
Thank you so much, Uma. The drawing reminded me so much of local old churchyards
I like the description of the church of and all who attended. And, of course, those illustrations.
Thank you very much, Laurie
Exemplary illustrations indeed, same as the dinner 🥘😋
Thank you so much, Ribana
As always, marvelous illustrations by Keeping. I especially like the illustration of the three children.
Yes – perfect. Thanks very much, Eugi
I’m glad you chose the little church in the park as your header. That was my favorite, too! You had a rather relaxed day. Did the weather keep you inside? Like Ivor, I was drawn to the three children who reminded me, too, of the Ukrainian children having to leave their homes. Such a travesty!
Thanks very much, Jan. I agree about the three children. Jackie really wasn’t up to going out.
I hope Jackie’s feeling better. Have a lovely Thursday, Derrick.
A better day, Jan. Thanks
Good! I’m glad. Each day, better, I pray 🙏🏽😍❤️👌🏽
