Unquenchable Polish Spirit

This morning Nick from Peacock Computers visited to instal a new router and to repair the interface between our TV and the You View box.

After lunch Barry from New Forest Chimney Sweeping And Repairs came to inspect our leaking Velux window. He asked me to send him two photographs, which I did.

Nugget overtook me on the Brick Path while I photographed white Japanese anemones and red pelargoniums.

Here are more of these anemones, between fading lilies and honesty seed pods.

These fuchsias, lobelia, and petunias suspended from the eucalyptus have recovered by virtue of the Head Gardener’s nurturing;

as has this unquenchable, aptly named, Polish Spirit which has twice survived the still visible windburn of the summer’s storms.

To the delight of foraging bees, new buds continue to burgeon on cosmoses.

A favourite perch for little robin Nugget stands in the Weeping Birch Bed. “Where’s Nugget?” (8)

This afternoon Jackie collected Elizabeth from her home in Pilley and drove her to collect her repaired car from a garage near us. My sister came back with the Culinary Queen and stayed for dinner, which consisted of luscious lamb’s liver (sorry, Yvonne), bacon and onions; creamy mashed potato; crunchy carrots and cauliflower; and tender green beans with which Jackie drank Hoegaarden and I drank Tesco’s Chilean Malbec 2018. Elizabeth had consumed her quota of Hophead Pale Ale on the patio beforehand. One of the advantages of a flavoursome casserole is that you can have bread and gravy if there is enough liquid left over. I did this tonight.

  1. On thing that certainly cannot be said about your garden is that there is no Fuchsia in it! Very colourful.
I fear for the continued existence of our latest robin.

  2. I’m glad you were able to have the repairs done, and that Nugget is well. I agree that your garden is very colorful (and beautiful). I saw Nugget on the path, but not in the other photo. I did manage to also see imaginary creatures though, so perhaps that counts. (The bottom of the eucalyptus, I think, looks like a bird to me.) πŸ™‚

  3. “These fuchsias, lobelia, and petunias suspended from the eucalyptus have recovered from the Head Gardener’s nurturing” – This made me laugh – I must have missed something in a previous post

This is the first “Where’s Nugget?” that has me absolutely stumped.

    1. I was a bit put out by that remark too Jodie! Sounds as if I might have been killing them with kindness! D has since rephrased that sentence.

    2. The Head Gardener alerted me to the inadvertently misleading ‘from’ this morning. It now reads better. πŸ™‚ Nugget is dead centre of picture perched on a light. Thanks very much, Jodie

  4. Hope you got your router fixed. My broadband went down a couple of weeks ago during an electrical storm resulting in a dead router that needed to be replaced by BT. Next time I will remember to unplug from the power and the telephone line!

I found Nugget but it was a long struggle today!

  5. YAY for helpers and fixers! YAY, Nick! YAY, Barry! πŸ™‚

HA! Nugget! It took me awhile to find you! But, I see you like lights and you like to be the center of attention…Ha! πŸ˜€ Guess What?! You are a light to us…you bring us warmth and smiles! πŸ™‚

I love seeing the bees at work in the garden! So many gorgeous flowers for them to chose from! πŸ™‚

We should all think of the Polish Spirit and adapt it’s unquenchable spirit as we navigate through the storms of life. πŸ™‚

    HUGS!!! πŸ™‚

  6. I hope your two photographs of the Velux window helped shed a little light on the situation? πŸ˜‰

The Japanese Anemone are beautiful, any chance of a close up one day??

That certainly is a fat little bumblebee on the beautiful cosmo!

It’s nice to see Jackie’s good work has been rewarded! πŸ™‚

I spotted little Nugget! Three times!! At first i thought he was a purple clematis?? Then i thought he was a dead leaf under the arch! I had to biggify to finally find him ‘lighting’ up the place, as he usually does! πŸ˜‰ I do like a challenge! Great work on your ‘Where’s Nugget?’ series, sir. πŸ™‚
