A Return To England

This morning I posted https://derrickjknight.com/2022/03/11/a-knights-tale-114-adoption-panels/

Our Granddaughter Florence and her American husband, Dillon, are in the process of moving back to England. Florence arrived at Heathrow this morning. Ian and Becky collected her at Heathrow. Becky then drove her here where she will stay until they find a new home; Dillon will join her as soon as he has fixed up and sold their house in Kentucky.

Despite missing Dillon we enjoyed an afternoon’s delighted and delightful reminiscing, and look forward to catching up with him.

This evening we dined on Red Chilli excellent takeaway fare. Paneer Tikka and Onion Bhaji were the starters; main courses were Chicken Korma, Chicken Saag, and Tandoori King Prawn Naga; we shared pilau and egg fried rice. I drank Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon 2020 and Jackie drank Hoegaarden. The others abstained.

  1. You and Jackie must be excited about Florence and Dillon returning to England. It is good to have family near! Hopefully Dillon will be able to wrap things up in Kentucky soon, and join Florence. Some of my own family is in Kentucky.

  2. Exciting times in the Knight household! We’re glad that you’re getting things sorted out and that Florence is with you and hope that Dillon will soon get the Kentucky things settled so he can reunite with Florence (and you and Jackie!)

  3. Ah! This explains the tidying rooms for visitors. How wonderful and exciting! I didn’t remember you had family living in the US. You must be thrilled to have them back.

  4. I am so delighted for you, such good news to hear that Florence will be staying with you to be loved and pampered by her wonderful grandparents. 🙂

  5. When I was a child, my parents and I would visit their best friends in Kentucky. I was too small to remember much, but I do remember crossing the river on a horse-drawn ferry that held two cars — and the ice cream that we always made. Kentucky’s a wonderful state; I’m sure Florence and Dillon will have tales to tell.

  6. A very good reason for all that tidying up 🙂 We have had old friends staying with us for three days: so much catching up to do so there was a lot of talking, laughing and very little sleep. Your description of “an afternoon’s delighted and delightful reminiscing” is thus very real to me.

  7. Ahh, the big reveal for bed preparation! What a wonderful time for you all. We are just home from out granddaughter’s baby shower. A second great-grandchild on the way. A pink one this time.
