Along Holmsley Passage

After purchasing final Easter provisions from Ferndene Farm Shop Jackie and I took a short forest drive.

The Postbox Cottage letter box on Wootton Road is now graced by an Easter Bunny yarn decoration.

Along Holmsley Passage Jackie parked the Modus and I stepped out

to photograph ponies, landscape,

and a family wheeling with their dog along the disused railway track.

This evening we all dined on meaty pork spare ribs in barbecue sauce, Jackie’s savoury rice, and green and runner beans, with which she drank Hoegaarden and I drank more of the Nero di Troija.

  1. We have the railroad paths made from deserted rail line here, too. What a good way to recycle land formerly used for rail traffic!

The first passages of Beethoven’s 6th Symphony (“Pastoral”) often pass through my mind when I view your posts, Derrick! I envy you your piece of earth.

I don ‘t know what prompts people to “post” crocheted seasonal critters for the postal box there but bless them! What fun!

      1. The distribution of lands to railroads during the rail building time gave then the prime lands, so the trails go through some really nice places.

    1. Kiddies seem to love them, I love them and they make good blogging material, what more could a yarn bomber want??

    2. Thank you so much, Doug. One of the groups has a notice saying that they hope to raise a smile

  2. so many wonderful photos today, Derrick, I wonder who the artist is that knits the fun critters for the postboxes? Tonight’s dinner is a perfect end to a sunny day. ❤️????????

  3. I thought the yellow lichen on the post was paint. Cute bunny and family with the dog. Of course, I always enjoy seeing ponies.

    1. Thanks very much, Sherry. It is amazing how much they can get out of the sward

  4. The weather looks warm there, and I am glad you had a nice sunny day to photograph ponies, landscape and people. The pockets of gorse are supplying a nice bit of golden color.

    1. Thank you very much, Lavinia. The sunnier the cooler at this time of year 🙂

  5. Getting caught up on my reading. Happy to have found this post. Love your photographs of ponies and the landscape. Responding to your many appreciative followers must be a full time job, Derrick! You do such a good job of it!
