New Arch And Continuing Clearance

Martin began the day by assembling and installing the replacement wooden arch;

then moved on to complete his clearance of the Dragon Bed and many other areas of the garden.

I also photographed the Weeping Birch Bed which will soon need further clearance.

Jackie, meanwhile, weeded the Brick Path section outside the Stable Door.

Ian returned home for work before dinner this evening which consisted of The Culinary Queen’s wholesome cottage pie topped with fried potatoes; firm broccoli; crisp carrots; and tender cabbage, with which she drank Pique-Nique Grenach 2022 left by our son-in-law and I drank Vacqueyras 2021 – a welcome present from Shelly and Ron.

  1. How often does Martin come work in the garden or any other needed chores? All of you do a lot of work to keep the garden maintained and full of gorgeous plants.

    1. Thanks very much, Pat. At the moment he is coming weekly, but will tail off in the winter.

  2. Martin is a great part of your team, guys! I would love to visit your garden and try those delicious fried taters! ????

  3. I, too, would love to see your garden in person, but it’s unlikely I ever will. Thank goodness for your wonderful pictures. Keep ’em coming!

  4. The garden is really looking very good, especially with that new arch — ready for the “dog days” of summer!

    1. The blue solanum will rise again. If necessary a clematis or two. Thanks very much, Chrissy

  5. “maybe the town crier would let me stay
even though I might look like an old stray
    standing alone under the archway”

  6. Jackie did a great job on the brick path! The new wooden arch looks ready to hold an abundance of flowering vines.

    1. Thanks very much, JoaAnna. The base of the blue solanum should pick up again

  7. Oh! The new arch is fabulous! As is Martin’s smile! As is Jackie’s weeding-work!
I imagine some of those plants are looking forward to climbing up the arch to try to reach the sky!
I saw a lovely garden sign years ago that said, “Let’s plant our dreams in the garden and entwine ourselves like vines.” 🙂
(((HUGS))) and ❤️ to everyone at your home!!!!!

  8. The new arch looks very grand, I do hope the high winds keep off.
Those paths look so clean and tidy; a lot of hard work has taken place here.

  9. I love the new arch, and Martin seems to enjoy working in your garden. You’re lucky to have found a loyal and hard worker.

    1. We are concentrating on wood, now, Dolly. The metal ones we can afford all rust. Thank you very much

          1. Other wooden arches have been strong enough – our winds can be 100 m.p.h.on occasion – straight up from the coast.
