Warm October Sunshine

Early this morning I watched a recording of last night’s rugby World Cup semi final match between England and South Africa.

Later, sporting shirt sleeves, I wandered among the garden plants with my camera.

As usual, accessing the gallery by clicking on any image will reveal individual titles.

Before dinner, Jackie drove me to Hatchet Pond to catch the sunset.

While waiting for the sun to reach the lake I was entranced by

the calm communing of a lone woman who was unknowingly blessed by a rainbow as light rain fell.

Jackie had also glimpsed the colourful phenomenon as it appeared above the car park.

We each photographed the sunset, the last two in this gallery being by Jackie.

The above mentioned dinner consisted of Jackie’s delicious chicken and vegetable stewp followed by her spicy pumpkin pie. We drank more of the same wines of yesterday.

  1. Such a wonderful walk through the garden with all those colorful flowers at season’s end! And a beautiful ending to the day at Hatchet Park. I particularly enjoyed that scene of the lone woman blessed by the rainbow. A very lovely sunset, too. Best to you both.

  2. We haven’t been able to see the sun set for months. Now the sun can be seen going down from our house every day. They are becoming more beautiful every day. Lovely photos – both of you. 🙂

    1. Yes – succulent which should be overwintered in the greenhouse which it has not seen yet. Thanks very much, Liz

  3. So beautiful dear Derrick. Your photos are breathtakingly lovely. Thank you for brightening the day. ????

  4. 0h my goodness…every photo spoke differently to my heart…but the sunset was just amazing.
I’m tempted to save one or two on my gallery for myself.

  5. Wowza! Gorgeous photos, Jackie and Derrick!
The woman communing with the sun photos are so powerful and beautiful!
The garden photos are so lovely…the ginger lilies, the Fuchsia army nurse, Mrs. Popple, the yucca leaves, the Aeonium! 🙂
The sun put on a wonderful setting-show for you. 🙂

    (((HUGS))) ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

    1. Thank you so much from us both, Carolyn. We were meant to have much more rain than we did. X

  6. I am moved by the woman in pink opening her heart and being blessed by the rainbow. Even if she was not consciously aware of the rainbow, I know she felt it. I like all the purply flowers, too! 😉

  7. Your. Log has taught me names of many a floral beings. The tradition continues. I like the title you have given to the woman communing with the sun, followed by the rainbow blessing her —it reminds me of Vedic stories in which Sun blessed the ladies with offspring.

  8. The light is beautiful in the flower photos, but I loved the serenity of the woman and rainbow sequence. So beautiful.
    Jackie’s sunsets are splendid.

  9. That last photo is fantastic!
It looks like some plants are ready for Winter, while others are holding onto Summer.
