Dawn Over Downton

The blends of red-gold-pink-indigo presaging

Shepherd’s warning early this morning were gone after twenty minutes of glory. Thereafter we were overhung with leaden pewter.

We shopped at Tesco later, and the rest of the day I settled down to “Roderick Random” by Tobias Smollet.

This evening we all dined on Jackie’s spicy chicken jalfrezi, or milder korma, according to choice; boiled rice; meat samosas hot or not; and plain parathas, with which she drank Hoegaarden and I finished the Malbec

  1. I love Nature’s layers of colour! You’ve captured them so beautifully! 🙂
I will forever be that girl who gets excited seeing a sunrise! 🙂
Sounds like a great day to spend within a good book! 🙂

  2. I’m often under a rock or behind the curve, but I have to ask: is your Downton the ‘Downton’ of the program about the Abbey? I never watched the show, but it’s title came to me when I read your title.

    1. Not exactly – but Julian Fellows, the writer, lives here in the New Forest from whence he took some of the names

  3. The purply sunset is indeed very picturesque Derrick …

    “Your Call (a Musette)”

    Sunset
    The day said
    Not yet

    Twilight
    The moon winks

    Night fall
    The stars saw
    Masked ball

  4. Gorgeous images to start off the day.
I’d be the one asking for mild everything at supper time!
Miserable, wet and windy again this morning.

  5. The pinking of the clouds at dawn and post sundown are so lovely! You have captured dawn well, Derrick. The images are beautiful and very pleasing and soothing to the soul.

  6. These pictures are wonderful, Derrick. You need some cloud for descend sunrise and sunset pictures. I know because we often have none ????
