Removals Collection

Early this morning Neil and Sam from New Forest Removals visited to collect the Grandfamily’s belongings for transport to their new home after the bank holiday.

This friendly, efficient, and personable pair loaded their van smoothly and quickly. After the weekend they will transfer these items to a smaller vehicle for delivery on Tuesday.

This afternoon I read another 50 pages, taking me past the half-way point of Sigrid Undset’s “Kristin Lavransdatter”.

We dined this evening on Jackie’s tangy lemon chicken; roast sweet and white potatoes; firm broccoli; and tender green beans.

    1. Our new normal, after a different one for two years. Yes, I am still enjoying the book. Thanks very much, Pat

  1. It will be fun getting back to your normal routine again. You have been wonderful hosts to your family. The crickets are calling loudly from the garden as we cool down to 23’C from 35’C earlier in the day. I have enjoyed the peace of being just the two of us today.

    1. Thanks very much, Anne. Yes, we have enjoyed a different normal for two years

  2. Your home will be more empty and quiet now, kind of a bummer I suppose. Lemon chicken is so delicious!

    1. Thanks very much, Diane. It s the first time I have been able to concentrate enough for a couple of weeks

    1. Having done the job myself during school holidays and later Saturday mornings, I agree. Thanks very much, Liz

  3. In my slightly tired state I read that first paragraph as ‘after the bank robbery’ and thought, no wonder they had to move.

  4. They do look like a lovely team willing to do the hard moving work. They’ve “…got it all wrapped up!” 🙂
Aw… (sad face), I know your house must seem too quiet now and not so lively.
You and Jackie will have to sit down and watch Hey Duggee once in awhile. 🙂

Bestest wishes, and much love, to Flo, Dillon, and Ellie on their new life adventure! ❤️❤️❤️

So glad you were able to do some reading, Derrick.
    (((HUGS))) ❤️❤️

  5. I am sure you will get used to the quietness (is that a word?) at home. Moving anything from home is a chore. I am glad you had a great crew to do that.

  6. A bitter sweet change after two years. So wonderful you were able to support the family as they re-established themselves, and your input into Ellie’s early formative years is priceless.

  7. Transitions are sad even when they foretell better times ahead. “The last time we all were together at the same time” becomes one of those moments we didn’t expect to be the last time when it happens, and too often is one of those moments we realize was “the last time” years later. I’m sure you and your family have many happy memories to sustain you! Little Ellie is a gem!

    1. Thanks very much, Val. Their location, which I can’t, for good reason, publicise, will be familiar to you

    1. We will indeed. They have been part of our normal for 2 years. Thanks very much, Robbie

  8. I didn’t realize Ellie, Dillon and Flo lived with you. I thought they just visited frequently. I’m sure you will still see lots of them!
