Garden Refuse

On this very warm and sunny morning Jackie and I packed 23 more spent compost bags of green waste into our uncomplaining little i10 Hyundai and transported them to Efford Recycling Centre, formerly the Council Dump.

Later, in the afternoon, we visited Ferndene Farm Shop to purchase various provisions and

three more bags of compost.

I have recently begun reading “The Berlin Diaries of Marie Vassiltchikov” and will be drafting the review, on which I made a start today, as I go along.

This evening we dined on Ferndene’s meaty pork and chives sausages; boiled potatoes; particularly flavoursome mushrooms and Brussels sprouts; firm carrots and cauliflower.

          1. I do – but I am determined to do what I can. It is the knees that are the problem. I still have strength in arms and back

  1. I put all our green compost in a little corner of the yard. They become nice soil after several months or a few years. Way to go Derrick.

  2. That looks like a faithful little car, aware of the significance of its duties. My first car was a predecessor of the i10, a Santro —another faithful car that served us well for two decades!

  3. Sounds like a productive day in the garden, Derrick! Clearing out debris is tough but rewarding. Your compost must be thriving! Looking forward to seeing the results of your hard work.

    1. We did at the beginning, but it has been hopeless during the wet periods, so we switched to this

  4. What a busy day! How do your knees cope with getting in and out of the car? I imagine you have your seat pushed back, but It looks a bit low.

  5. Good for you for getting alll that compost refuse carried to the dump and getting more to keep your garden beautiful! Your variety of veggies for dinner always are inspirational. Our neighbor who has a wonderful green house and garden just delivered to us some squash, carrots, kale, and tomatoes. So you know what will included in our dinner tonight!
