This afternoon I posted https://derrickjknight.com/2021/08/16/a-knights-tale-17-the-young-girl-actually-accepted-it/
Later, I joined Jackie in the Rose Garden where she rearranged plants and watered, while I dead headed.
Until the Head Gardener restrained her, Lady Hamilton spread herself about a bit. She has been tethered since I made these pictures
as I noticed when, later, we enjoyed evening drinks beside her.
Other views include Winchester Cathedral, Mamma Mia and verbena bonariensis, For your Eyes Only, backlit cerinthe, and Jackie in “Where’s Jacke” (10)
Elsewhere we have various dahlias, phlox, and pink double lily.
This evening we enjoyed second helpings of yesterday’s cottage pie with fresh vegetables. Jackie drank Calvet Prestige Sauvignon Blanc 2020 while I finished the Faugeres.
All that dead heading is so worthwhile
Thanks very much, Sheree.
Gorgeous flowers. You two have green thumbs.
Gorgeous flowers. You two have green thumbs.
Thanks very much, Pat
Jackie is peeping out from behind a bush in the left part of the photo. Viewing your roses is a great pleasure, Derrick.
Thanks very much, and well spotted, Dolly
You are very welcome, Derrick.
I love the double lily! (Lady Hamilton, too.)
Glad you got Lady Emma, Liz 🙂 Thanks very much
You’re welcome, Derrick. 🙂
Your personification of Lady Hamilton made me smile. The double lily is stunning–as is your garden.
You never leave me wondering if I have wasted a joke, Merril 🙂 Thanks very much.
You’re welcome! 🤣
Everything is looking so healthy. Unfortunately, I was unable to enlarge any of the images except for the first image in section.
I’m viewing via my iPad, so if no one else is having difficulty then we can assume the fault is at my end. 🤔
We now know where the problem lies. Not with you. Thanks very much, Sue.
Sorry my edits missed out a word. The first image in Each section.
Yes Sue, I’m having the same problem very annoying, apparently Derrick had the same thing happen when he was viewing Andrew Petchers blog yesterday.
I was relieved to find out it wasn’t my iPad. Thank you Jackie.
Jackie and Derrick, I tried an experiment.
My phone always shows the gallery in single images so no point in testing there. Viewing the gallery on my computer was fine, however, using the iPad I switched to another browser and used Google instead and could browse through the gallery without problems. It seems as though my problem is the Safari browser. So now I need to find out if this is an Apple hitch or a WordPress update problem.
Thanks very much, Sue
I’ve been in touch with WordPress and they are looking into it.
Well done.
Goodness, your double lily is truly astonishing – the flower itself reminds me of an exotic clematis, but the leaves are very different. Absolutely stunning and such a confident colour for Lily!
Your ‘rose garden’ truly is the epitome of an English Rose Garden. Heavenly pictures!
Hi Emma, Derrick thought it was a Dahlia, because of the foliage, in fact the lily has flopped forward and is growing through a dahlia planted in front of it, its own leaves are hidden.
Aah, a Dalia was my other thought too – the petals look so fleshy and so much more colourful than most Lilies! You have both created such a wonderful haven in your beautiful garden – so much work but the result is fantastic!
Thanks again, Emma.
🙂
Thanks very much, Emma. I was fooled by the leaves, too. I thought it was a strange dahlia and had to seek identification from the Head Gardener who has now answered you 🙂
Everything in the garden is lovely, as they say.
Thanks very much, Tootlepedal
That double lily is, I’d say, ravishing! Beautiful seems inadequate. I read Part 17 of the Knight’s Tale. What detailed description! Very interesting.
Thank you very much, Joycee
A beautiful day in the Knight Garden! Hey, Jackie! I see ya’! 😉 😀
Fun to spot an owl, too!
Double lily!! Double lovely!!
(((HUGS))) 🙂
Thank you so much, Carolyn. Well spotted. X
I had to look close to find Jackie! I found the owl easily. 🙂 Beautiful shots, Derrick!
Thanks very much, Jill. Well spotted. Jackie’s tops are a good camouflage in the garden 🙂
A-ha! I spotted Jackie this time 🙂
Well done, Rosaliene. Thanks very much
Those flowers are amazing
Thanks very much, Gary
The Lady Hamilton rose is a outstanding showpiece Derrick ..
I loved “Where’s Jacke” (10). It looks like she’s playing hide and seek with Florence. 🙂
Well spotted, JoAnna. Thanks very much.
The Head Gardener is in full control of wayward plants. In the quiz, she is well camouflaged in the top left of the image, in between the shrub and the statue. The light in the closing images looks pleasant.
Thanks very much, Uma. Well spotted
Found Jackie after a long search. Apparently, I can’t count. 😉
Thanks for your perseverance, Laurie. Thanks very much
What a joy to sit in a heavenly place and enjoy drinks 😊.
Thank you very much, Rupali. Just what we were saying.
I like those red and yellow dahlias. My wife grows lilies but they’ve taken a bit of a pasting in the recent wind and rain. This summer weather is getting stranger and stranger.
It is indeed, John. Thanks very much
The ‘where’s Jackie’ picture was real cute today, Derrick! And the garden is fantastic. All that hard work sure is showing !!
Thank you very much, GP
gorgeous flowers Derrick! thank you for sharing! all that labor of love is very much worth it! 🙂
Thank you so much, Lola
I love viewing your garden and the double lily is amazing!
Thanks very much, Eugi
You’re welcome, Derrick.
I love your giant roses. You must feed them well!
Thanks very much, Dwight. Jackie does, indeed
Beautiful!
I’m not sure what your winters are like, Derrick, but you have a wonderful life in the summertime.
It all looks so lovely! I spotted Jackie. 🙂
The heat has broken here, and we are enjoying a deliciously cool and mostly cloudy day. 🙂
I’m pleased about your weather. Thanks very much, and well spotted, Lavinia
I’m running out of superlatives, so I will merely pass the opinion that the garden isn’t looking too bad at the moment. 🙂
Thanks a lot, Quercus 🙂
I spotted Jackie right off. It made me smile. Beautiful photos as usual Derrick.
Jackie, I had a 60cm wooden wagon wheel delivered today. I intend to lean it against a 4 foot high garden windmill I bought last year and grow snow peas on them. I would have prefer a real one but they are hard to come by and expensive. Besides, where would I put it? 🙂 You are such an inspirational gardener. I’m your biggest fan. 😉 (Sorry, Derrick)
Thank you very much, Chrissy. I’ll forgive you 🙂
🙂
Wow Chrissy, thanks very much, I’m flattered. I love the sound of the wagon wheel and the snow peas, should look wonderful. I love looking around reclamation yards here for things to go in the garden, but as you say, they can be very expensive, and like you I’m running out of space!
My garden is about the size of one corner of yours but Norm says I’ll find a way to fill it. 🙂
