With storm Dudley raging outside I posted https://derrickjknight.com/2022/02/15/a-knights-tale-103-the-3d-crossword-and-gander/ after lunch.
Later, the rain ceased and the wind lessened somewhat, so we drove to Mudeford to have a look at the sea which was in a remarkably gentler mood.
A gentleman safely watched his dogs frolicking in the water;
two sailboarders surfed happily (the last two photographs by Jackie).
Despite the gloom, a kitesurfer enjoyed a long stint on the more sheltered side. Again the last two images in this gallery are Jackie’s.
Perhaps to display her recent hairdressing, The Assistant Photographer produced these images of me, gaining support where I could, including those where she claims I blocked her view.
She also focussed on crab baskets and beach huts.
Gulls and oystercatchers caught my eye.
This evening we dined on baked gammon; piri-piri chicken; piquant cauliflower and broccoli cheese; crunchy carrots; boiled new potatoes; and tender runner beans, with which Jackie drank Hoegaarden and I drank more of the Merlot
I smile at the difference in perspective between your photographs and those that Jackie takes 🙂
Vive la difference, Anne. Thanks very much
So brave to be out, but understand your need to get outdoors, as is the daily case for both of you. And you were well wrapped up againt the elements
Thanks very much, Catherine
I always enjoy a good dog frolic.
Thanks very much, Liz
You’re welcome, Derrick.
Such fun photos.
Thanks very much from us both, Chrissy
I can’t believe man or beast would want to be in that sea at this time of the year. It just looks frigid.
Agreed, AnneMarie. Thanks very much
We had a serious snowstorm and rain on the east coast a few days ago, I’ll be that you’re getting the same storm, Derrick!
Possibly, John. Thanks very much
Lovely photos, Derrick, by you and the AP! Warm hellos to you both. We had major snowfalls and the snow has stayed, becoming ice in places. Tomorrow we have been promised rain to wash it away.
Thanks very much from us both, Cynthia. I hope the rain doesn’t ice up.
Beautiful photos, by both of you, of after the storm. Glad no damage was done.
Thanks very much, Laurie – from us both
Looks like a Winnie The Pooh Blustery Day! 😀 Hey, Jackie! Great job of haircutting The Great Photographers hair! 🙂 And your photos are so wonderful you deserve a promotion to at least The Good Photographer! 😉 ❤️All grand photos today, You 2!!! The crab baskets are artistic, the dog frolics are joyful, the kite-surfers are billowy-beautiful, and the birds are busily living life! Guess What?! The bench photo is my fave! I could sit there for hours and not get any of my work done! 😮 🙂 (((HUGS))) 🙂
Lots of fun in your comments, Carolyn. Jackie is particularly pleased with your fave. Thanks a lot from us both X
Great shots from you both. Jackie did a great job on your hair. You do have a wonderful head of hair for a not so young man. Lucky you.
Thanks very much, Sylvia. I am lucky.
I am glad that the storm passed over so quickly. I hope that that will be the same when it reaches us.
Apparently that wasn’t really Dudley. Thanks a lot, Tootlepedal
We’ve had fairly strong winds for the past couple of weeks, though we are fairly high and unsheltered in this patch. Just like in your neck of the woods it calmed down this afternoon, I think we’ve had Dud’s little brother doing the warm up act in preparation for the real thing! Our local weatherman says to expect Dudley himself to make his real presence known by tomorrow afternoon!
That is what Jackie thought, too. Thanks very much, Sue
So many good photos I won’t even start naming them. I can’t imagine being in that ocean this time of year, even in a wetsuit. On the other hand, having a year round sport would be great! Given the size of your camera lens, I can see why you need to brace somewhere. Goodness. But that’s what makes those nice pic’s.
Thanks very much from us both, Lisa. It was really difficult to keep it steady in that wind.
So glad Dudley was more of a dweeb 💛🙏🏼💛
Thanks a lot, Val
Somehow it’s hard to take a storm called Dudley seriously. I think I preferred it before we had storms with names – I just want it to go, I don’t want to strike up a conversation! Nice trousers, by th way. 🙂
Lidl’s finest, Quercus. Thanks a lot
They are excellent trousers – I have to use Jacamo because I am somewhat out of the average range – trousers for fat people delivered to my door so I don’t need to take exercise by shopping. 🙂
Glad you could enjoy the calm after the storm. I had a chuckle at Jackie’s photos of your back. The one of your profile looks good.
Thanks very much, JoAnna
Both you and Jackie gave great images for this post, Derrick. Those sailboarders, am I seeing right? Is there an underwater keel at the bottom of what looks like a post from the bottom of the board? That equipment is new to me.
Thanks very much from us both, Maj. I had the same question about that picture until I enlarged it and it seems to be a reflection of the sail
The Kite Surfer has been doubly captured. You look formidable yet extremely well groomed —hair-dressed— with your long zoom lens deployed for prompt action. The bench on the grass looks so inviting. Gulls and catchers of oysters have been caught in their sporadic spree.
Thank you very much for your usual eloquence, Uma
That sea looks bracing. Put hairs on your back
Thanks a lot, Gary.
It still looks pretty cold there by the shore! You and Jackie took some beautiful photos.
Thank you very much from us both, Lavinia
Beautiful captures. Love the stormy scenery. Kudos to you and Jackie!
Thank you very much from us both, Cindy
Wonderful photos by both of you. Your haircut looks nice, Derrick!
Thanks very much from us both, Jill
It looks like lots of fun, but I think I would chicken out. It’s too cold and too stormy.
I nearly did chicken out, Bridget. Thanks very much
Although storm Dudley was in a gentlier mood, It still look blustery and rough to me Derrick …
Winds for the next few days will be 50/60 mph. Thanks very much, Ivor.
Both of you have outdone yourselves with dynamic photos of sailboarders and a kite-surfer.
Thank you very much from us both, Dolly
Both of you are very welcome, Derrick.
Good photos. I like photos of waves and of people and dogs having fun at the beach.
Thank you very much, Nicki
I’ve never seen oystercatchers on grass like that!
Nor me. Thanks a lot, John
Wonderful photos by both of you, and great haircut, too! The dogs looked like they were posing.
I’m glad the weather cleared enough for you to get out.
Thanks very much from us both, Merril
You’re both welcome. 😊
The power and then the gentler side of Nature.
Great haircut, Jackie!
Thanks very much from us both, GP
Great photos from you both! Looks cold out there!
Thanks very much, Aletta
You are looking much smarter than you would were you outside here at the moment. It’s wild.
Thanks very much, Susan
You two are more adventuresome than I! It looked very much like a good day to stay warm inside! But then I’d have missed those frolicking dogs, the wonderful crab pot display and the assortment of busy birds. All those were photographed with such creative artistry. I’m glad you ventured out! Thanks for sharing. I hope you get some reprieve from all that dampness.
Many thanks from us both, Jan XX
