The Lavender Garden

This morning I updated the following post from Classic to Block edit:

Jackie drove us all to Lavender Farm Gardens at Plaitford, near Salisbury, for lunch. What looked like a limited choice of menus turned out to be very good. Jackie enjoyed her paté and salad; my smoked mackerel and beetroot salad was excellent; as was Flo’s roast beef bagel; Dillon was pleased with his cheese pastry; Ellie helped herself to crisps off her mother’s plate, and was fed other suitable items, like some of her great grandmother’s paté.

Afterwards we each wandered around the gardens at our own pace.

This evening we all dined on tender roast chicken; sage and onion stuffing; crisp fried potatoes; crunchy carrots; and firm broccoli with which Jackie finished the Asahi and I finished the Malbec.

  1. Such a beautiful place, it’s a bonus that your meals were delicious, too. Lovely photos capture the essence of this garden–though too bad not the scent. 🙂
It looks like Jackie loves meadowsweet!

    1. Thank you very much, Merril. I was thinking that it was a pity I couldn’t post the scent myself. You may have picked up that I don’t like it in our garden because of its invasiveness, whereas Jackie likes it – that is what that expression was about 🙂

  2. What a beautiful place, Derrick. It looks like a bigger version of your yard.

Loved the photos of Dillon, Flo and Ellie. Those infant months pass by so quickly. They will be glad to have this photographic and storied memory.

And that photo of Jackie and the meadowsweet has made me smile a dozen times.

  3. You took so many beautiful photos today, Derrick! Lots of green and other lovely colors. Jackie’s dinner sounds delicious as usual! ????❤️

    1. Thanks very much, Geeta. It couldn’t have been better for Jackie’s birthday

  4. Lavender barely survives in my zone. To get it through winters requires a master gardener’s touch. I once – accidentally! – got it to grow in a protected place in my garden, but only got three, four years out of it before I managed to kill it off. I would be pleased to have it invade my garden!

  5. What a beautiful place to spend time!
    Lovely lavender…color and smell!
Happy Birthday Day and Birthday Week to Jackie!!! I’m glad she got a day out and a delicious meal!
    (((HUGS))) and ❤️ to all!!!

  6. Beautiful place and pictures. I had a Mother’s Day brunch at a Lavender farm in Southern California once, beautiful experience. Has Ellie asked for the keys to the Modus yet?

  7. That was a lovey tour, Derrick and Jackie! Lunch sounds like it was delicious. Beetroot salad, too! I am trying to grow a variety called “Bull’s Blood” this year.

  8. As always, a view of your world through your lenses is such a treat! And your meal choices sound really good! Glad you had such a nice day out!
