Finishing Off (For Now)

Now that the fierce winds have eased off the day was warm enough for T-shirts and bees; although the autumn crocuses have taken a battering Rosa Siluetta Lavender, grateful for the rain, continues its rapid climb up the Weeping Birch trunk.

Jackie was able to clear the Cordyline leaves, brambles, and stinging nettles from behind the Australian tree this morning and leave them for me to bag up this afternoon,

along with a few clippings in a trug.

I filled five and a half bags then swept up the debris.

After drafting this I received a most helpful call from Natalie, one of the nurses in the Southampton General Hospital urology department. She was very friendly and clear in her explanation of the reason for, the procedure, the follow up and the after effects of the BCG vaccine installation, confirming that I would be sent a letter with relevant dates. Interestingly she had the results of my recent blood test which she told me was normal, and that the symptoms I have been continuing post-procedure are quite usual, clarifying why.

This evening we dined on spicy peri-peri chicken (milder than last time); Jackie’s colourful savoury rice; carrots, cauliflower, spinach, and broccoli, with which I drank more of the Cabernet Sauvignon.

  1. I am glad that your tests have been normal and you got that phone call, Derrick! The NHS seems to be a good system. I’ve had more than enough of our broken medical system. Dinner sounds great, I just griddled some thin-slice chicken for lunch!

  2. ohhh, you are so lucky to have it warm enough for T-shirts Derrick Its been a cold wind here we have had at least 48 hours of constant lashing rain with the wind.. and still raining.. šŸ™‚ My Dahlias and Begonia’s are all broken and bashed with wind and rain.. So I sympathise Derrick But nothing compared to those with flooding etc… So I am not complaining.. It certainly left its mark on the garden..
But we are so lucky compared to the storm in the USA..
    Sending hugs your way x

Wishing you well with your tests etc Derrick Sending lots of love x

  3. So happy to hear about the news/call from Natalie!
The newly “vacuumed” (Ha!) paths look beautiful and inviting! Great work!

PS…Who (or what) is that in the last photo…laying on the plant/pot saucer?

  4. It’s good to get a detailed response like that. As for your comment about T-shirts . . .We started wearing fleeces last week and Julia has unpacked her thermals. pah!

  5. I’m glad you’re finally getting helpful information. You really got a log of work done, today! It’s nice that the weeping birch trunk is still there for the flowering vines to climb.

  6. I like that you tell and show photos of not only the summer, but all of the seasons, the preparations as well as the clearing away, and setting to rights after storms.
I miss the English walled Garden portion of a local botanical garden due to its great expense now. I enjoy watching the real thing on your blog šŸ™‚

  7. Normal is a wonderful word when it comes to health issues. Yay! One of these days you’ll have to photograph Jackie’s colourful rice. It always sounds interesting.
