Advent Day 25

The star-shaped nativity scene was brought back from Jerusalem by Helen and Bill a few years ago.

We spent the morning opening Santa presents, and the afternoon enjoying each other’s company.

Here Ellie drapes herself in her Christmas fairy dress across Granny’s knee, making her carefully detailed drawings, and writing about them.

Later, we opened all the individual presents, mostly distributed by Ellie with some assistance from Flo,

before we enjoyed the Culinary Queen’s Christmas dinner of roast turkey and all the trimmings, some of which I managed to photograph as it was being served. Various wines and Blue Moon beer were consumed; mine was South African Coastal Region Pinotage 2022.

  1. That star-shaped nativity is beautiful. I’ve never seen one done in that way; it’s really appealing. Of course, that well-laden table is appealing, too. I’m glad you all were able to gather to share it!

  2. It is heartwarming to have a table laden with excellent food with family seated around it! We were fortunate to have our son from Scotland share the day with us 🙂 🙂

  3. It’s so nice to see Ellie and Jackie enjoying each other’s company. My goodness Ellie has matured. She’s more “little girl” and less “toddler” from my perspective. I’m glad you could celebrate Christmas together.

  4. A lovely family Christmas. I also love the photo of you holding Orlaith so long ago. Couldn’t find a place to comment there. Merry Christmas, Derrick.

  6. Ellie is the latest artist in the family and will undoubtedly carry on the tradition with enthusiasm. I love her little scratches on the pad, and what better motivation than a new faery dress and Grandma’s lap? Merry Christmas to you all: the food looks marvelous!
