Four Legged Friends

On a warmer yet overcast afternoon we took a forest drive.

Donkeys claimed the road at Cadnam;

ponies gathered at Bramshaw;

on Penn Common cattle, still and silent, lined up listening to sweet early Spring birdsong.

En route to Nomansland bits of blown tree neatly fell into place across the road.

Later, I continued reading ‘The Brontës’ until, This evening we dined on basa fish cakes, cauliflower cheese, boiled potatoes, carrots, and peas, with which Jackie drank Diet Coke and I finished the Fleurie.

    1. Thank you very much, Pat. As soon as Jackie read this one out to me, I knew who had said it

      1. Thank you both very much. Jackie said the same thing even before she had seen your comments

  1. A wonderful day. There is something attractive about those faces with the tufty beards. And the Basa sounds delicious too. Jackie can keep the Diet Coke.

    1. Definitely. Every time it is windy. Elsewhere people have been killed, but not here in our time. Thanks very much, John

  2. Oh, you know I love the donkeys! Those sweet faces! 🙂 Also, good to see the ponies and the cattle, too!
    Always a joy to see the equine and the bovine! 🙂
    Guess What?! Some of my fave friends have four legs. 🙂
    (((HUGS))) ❤️❤️

  3. I am always stumped by the nonchalant look that the equids wear. After I witnessed a young boy being kicked viciously in the underbelly, who I heard succumbed to the injury, I have scarcely trusted them. They make a great picture in your post though. Ponies wear a lot better look and that too is confirmed in your pictures.

    1. What a shock about the boy, Uma. We are warned not to touch or feed the ponies and reminded that they are wild. Thank you very much.

  4. I saw a photo of a cat earlier and I thought they were the cutest things ever. Seeing these donkeys now, I’m beginning to second guess. Lovely photos John
