This afternoon I posted https://derrickjknight.com/2022/03/29/a-knights-tale-119-the-foxton-staircase/
Later, I read more of ‘Bleak House’ and scanned three more of the inimitable Charle Keeping’s illustrations to my Folio Society edition.
‘She fell down on her knees’
‘Mr Grubble was standing at the door to his tavern’
‘Not only was the portrait there, but we found the original there too’
Meanwhile Jackie occupied herself with the preparation of dinners for tonight and for tomorrow.
Tonight’s chicken in Nando’s sauce was roasted in the oven.
With this tasty meal, the Culinary Queen drank Hoegaarden, Ian and Becky drank Tierra y Hombre Sauvignon Blanc 2021, while I finished the Tulga.
All the food preparation is making me hungry, Jackie! Everything looks so tasty!
I still love those Charles Keeping illustrations, Derrick.
Thanks very much from us both, Lavinia
I never cease to be amused by how Dickens named his characters.
Yes – the names are often intriguing. Thanks very much, Liz
You’re welcome, Derrick. Mr. Choakumchild remains my perennial favorite.
🙂
Looks delicious.
Thanks very much, Mrs W.
You’re welcome.
I love seeing Jackie at work in her kitchen. Dinner looks wonderful!
Thank you very much, Jodie
<3
Dinner looks so delicious, Jackie! 😋🇬🇧
Thanks a lot from us both, John
Nice kitchen – tasty looking dinners from the Culinary Queen
Thank you very much, Sheree
Mrs Guppy’s left hand is quite something, isn’t it? Like a part of the “Alien” from the film.
Indeed, John. Thanks very much
Oh my! That looks delicious! I love the green dishes.
Thanks very much, Jill
Fun to see the Culinary Queen in her kitchen element. We enjoyed the action shot of the pressure cooker with the column of steam pouring forth!
Thanks very much, Maj and Sher
Jackie’s meal looks sooooooo delicious!
Thank you very much, Rosaliene
Meals look very tasty
More please?
Thanks a lot, Pat.
A positive feast in store.
Thanks very much, Tootlepedal
Jackie must be so enjoying her new kitchen.
So true, Gwen. Thank you very much
Nice to have meals prepared ahead of time. Food looks delicious!
Thanks very much, Laurie
Of course your second scan is my fav’ Derrick … and I am definitely no multi-tasker ..
We are men, Ivor. We can’t multitask. Yes. I knew that would be your favourite. Thanks very much
I enjoyed seeing Jackie creating her culinary delights in the cozy, attractive kitchen. The veggies look great!
Thanks very much, JoAnna.
I need a Jackie.
Thanks very much, Flow
True domestic partnership – one working hard and one getting in the way with his camera. In addition to being a driver, cook and gardener Jackie is also clearly very patient. 🙂
A howl of laughter from Jackie was prompted by this comment, Quercus. Thanks for that 🙂
Always good to start with a laugh. 🙂
Apart from his characters, I delight in looking at Keeping’s intricate sketches of buildings. It has also been fun seeing Jackie in the throes of preparing the delicious meals you describe with such care every day.
Thank you so much, Anne
A delicious looking meal, Derrick. Thanks for the pictures from Dickens. I always find them fascinating.
Much appreciated, Robbie
Another tasty meal prepared with your love, Jackie! 🙂 It’s like you created spring in a pot! 🙂
I think the photo documentarian’s job makes the documentarian very hungry! 😉 I bet very appreciative, too! 🙂
The Bleak House illustration has so much amazing detail!
(((HUGS))) 🙂
Thank you very much from us both, Carolyn X
I’m so glad you photographed Jackie in the kitchen preparing the meals. I tried a similar thing on myself the other day – it didn’t quite work out!
Thanks very much, Sue. Maybe Josh could take the pictures
I had unspent Curry’s vouchers from my January birthday. So, two weeks ago I finally swapped them for a Tefal electric multi cooker – browning/pressure/slow cook, simmer etc with 25 programmes.
Still trial and error as I get used to using it.
Yes, I should ask Joss to take the photos, good idea.
I was wondering if we’ve seen your kitchen in use since it’s renovation (and laughed at Quercus’s comment). I love all the color in the dishes being prepared.
I liked all the detail in the second Keeping drawing, but the bows on the cravats caught my eye in the last one.
Many thanks, Merril 🙂
I’ve not seen someone using a pressure cooker in some time. When I was cruising and frequenting the boats of other cruisers, it was common to see a pressure cooker. They’re great on boats, since the lid can be secured and locked, making that sudden wave less dangerous to the cook.
Interesting, Linda. Thanks a lot
Dinner looks delicious! You found a real gem in Jackie! The Bleak House illustrations are amazing. Such detail.
Thank you so much, Eugi
Thanks for more bleak house and loved the action shots in kitchen ;$
Thanks very much, Yvette
☀️😊
Good to see that neither of you are going “hungry” 😀
Certainly not, Catherine 🙂 Thanks very much
Looks like you were treated to a tasty supper!
Thanks very much, AnneMarie
Those are splendid pictures of the Masterchef and Ace Multitasker at work.
Thank you very much, Uma
Wow! Really tasty food! Everything looks mouthwatering 😋
Thank you very much, Ribana
It is a pleasure to see the Culinary Queen at work, and, of course, Mr Keeping’s exceptional illustrations.
Thank you very much, Dolly
The pleasure is mine, Derrick.
